To cmsdrums and Benn,
I agree with you both about the lack of attention to detail and general shoddiness on the home video releases made by DoRo over the years. I don't think they did have someone checking the facts on the screen info before the video went out as there wouldn't of been so many if they did. Then again the way they compile their footage in a quick 'cut and paste' fashion makes sure that a lot more footage is included on a home video and although we don't get to see a whole performance we do get proof of what is out there from over the years.

Hi GT
Is there anything in the following thread that is of any significance to your book?
Yes I am in touch with this guy regarding these early days, thanks anyway.

Hi Inu-liger,
I expect that any mention of what sound board recordings exist will be a last minute decision and won't be up to us anyway as they are unreleased recordings that are owned by the band. All the private recordings that have surfaced over the years and bootlegs do get a mention though. ============================================
Thanks for the answer, Gary. Fairly understandable, I do understand already that the archive does not necessarily includes copies of private personal tapes from the members. Would be nice if they agree to something at the last minute.

GT, re:

This is a curious response, given that you've already stated reference "will" be made to all existing live footage in the band's archive. Couple of questions if you have the time to answer Gary:
Why would audio recordings not be refered to when film footage is referenced?
In terms of the archive referenced, is this limited to JUST the band archive or to the archives of the individual members and someone like Trip Khalaf too?
Thanks again for your time Gary.

That's because the live video footage is already 'out there' in some form or another, even if it's only a short clip on the home videos. The audio stuff has not been released in any form apart from the odd cut that made the 'Live Killers' album.

Thanks for this Gary, so, anything that hasn't appeared as a clip or snippett OFFICIALLY will not be referenced or mentioned?

As I thought then........nothing new or revelatory......or, in fact, even remotely interesting enough to bother shelling out more hard-earned for.

Hello Gary. Have you ever thought of contacting local papers? I live in Sunderland and often see letters from people who are busy writing books asking for info about various bands who have played here. Queen played the Locarno in '74, and as far as i'm aware no info has ever surfaced about this show. A simple letter to the Sunderland Echo asking for the public's help might just bring out a recording, some photo's or at least a story?

After a few weeks of announcing a request for your photos of the band for this Live book, I have to say A VERY BIG THANK YOU to all who have contributed....the response was excellent and we'll have some great photos to share in the book now.
If anyone still wants to send photos to me, or knows of anyone who has some personal photos from 1970 to 1986 (+ the FM Tribute concert) then please send / contact me at garytaylortqy@aol.com
Thanks again.

If the new edition would include solo shows and the QPR tours I could've been tempted to buy it. But I guess I'll pass on this one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As an average Queen fan I wouldn't agree with you tbh. I have zero interest in most of the solo stuff from all four members, for whatever reason I just never got into it. The Q+PR concerts are already well documented on the net anyway.
I'm not trying to disparage their solo work, or the work done under Q+PR. I do feel it would make the book less attractive to me, and others. Plus on the logistical front that book you propose would need to be around six - eight inches thick to accommodate the information you would expect to see in it.
Just my two cents.

Yeah, like any casual fan is interested in knowing that Queen performed a rare Back Chat/Under Pressure medley in Urk '83... I think most of the people who would buy a book like this must be pretty serious about the band and it's members. Anyone else will just buy a "The Definitive Biography" by Laura Jackson-type of book.

Sorry, I also meant to ask for your stories too as well as any photos.

And yes Marknow if we had of included the solo and QPR years the book would have to be huge and would of taken another few years to produce.
Anyway there is a very nice photo book of Queen + Paul Rodgers coming soon, which looks like it's going to be excellent work from the photographer who has made this book.
