Good question, Adam. The room held 850 max and it was nowhere near filled (there were seats open around me and I was in Row J in the Orchestra section. I also don't think everyone stayed for the signing - quite a few in attendance were just there to hear a stereoscopic lecture. I'd estimate between 400-500 total with about 300-400 sticking around for the signing.
I've heard a few other people who emailed to thank him and got responses. Either he's got an amazing assistant or tons of time on his hands, but either way, he knows how to keep fans happy!

That's too funny! I suspected it was a Queen person and not a fashion person!

That really made me laugh. Ummm.....screw you too! My shoe closest is better than your shoe closet! (probably not actually) :)
There have been a lot of really positive anecdotal reports of fan experiences on this signing tour. Though I think Brian's reputation with fans has always been quite good (I think that's right, right?) , I've wondered if he's giving it that little bit extra as a part voluntary/part involuntary reaction to some of the negative press he's been getting in some quarters lately. I don't mean to imply in any way that he's not being genuine, it's just that he's wise to know that it doesn't hurt to leave any army of people with wonderfully positive feelings about you when you're trying to build an awareness initiative.

LOL Not an insult! Just a hunch (since I doubt anyone else had paid close enough attention to WHAT the book signing was for!) But you're probably right about your shoe closet. I am an admittedly horrible shoe shopper! :P
I've heard nothing but great reports from the signings, but I've heard the same from folks who have previously met him so who knows if he's "stepping it up" a notch. I think a book signing is just a more appropriate setting to meet someone. You aren't chasing him down the back alleys outside the Dominion or bothering him while he eats his dinner. He knows exactly why people are there and can spend the day mentally preparing for it. The audiences were also relatively small so I'm sure it helped to know that there was an end to the evening in sight!
So last night was the event, wow what a guy. Came out front to greet the people who were waiting outside. He drove himself and had dropped off his daughter Emily first. The lecture was great and it helped me make sense of his stereo doings. I met 2 cool fans Mark and Crystal (I think) Mark worked for DHL, I'd like to facebook friend him is anyone knows who I'm talking about, he was at the 2001 breakthru convention.
Only about 150 people came out so it was really a nice gathering. I stood in line with my friends and didn't expect them to be allowed to take a picture with him as well since only I bought the book. As we were walking away Brian said "Hey! don't they want a picture too!? Get in on the fun! and he graciously took a picture with them. We were yelled at for having a flash on the camera but Brian told the security lady that is was all right. What a man!
Heres my pics
I'm in the green
Aw I'm glad you had a good time! Brian was really great about photos in NYC too (as evidenced by the fact that I practically crawled into his lap for mine!) LOL
I'm glad you got some good ones!
