My nephew passed away a few days ago and I've been trying to look on the bright side. I miss the guy terribly.

That was the first thought I had as well. I'm really hoping not as they (sorry to talk about you like you're not here Zebonka) seemed extremely tight.

Nah, his elder brother. I think, were it not for his lifelong cerebral palsy, he would've been in the movies with us. It didn't stop him from being our pal, and the most cheerful bugger I've ever met.
Thanks all.

It's hard to put this thought together without sounding trite, but people with developmental disabilities so often shape their families and others around them in really profound and positive ways. They have a way of fostering joy and gratitude and perspective that really is a gift. I have an old sometimes boyfriend that I've always stayed friends with over the years who lost his stepdaughter in similar circumstances last summer. It's really changed their world. All this, I guess, to say I'm really sorry for your loss. It's a very tough thing.

That's basically it in a nutshell!

I'm sad to hear about your loss, Zebonka. I don't want to sound like an emotional cunt right now, but by keeping his memory alive he'll never really die. I know it's bullshit in a sense (not even talking about how cliché it is), but there's a real truth in there and to add to that I really don't know what else to say.
