Great timing, I was about to ask for a torrent also.

I have the official "Queen Rock You From Rio - Live" CD and that claims it was recorded on 12 Jan 1985 at the Rock in Rio Festival. Did Queen really play twice (12th and 19th) at the festival? Or is the date wrong on one (or both) or these releases?

It's good to have this torrent anyway even if it is the same concert, since the CD is single disc and therefore only about half the concert (16 tracks inc. God Save The Queen).

Having searched around it seems Queen did play twice. Sites differ on the dates, some claiming 11 and 18 Jan and others claiming 12 and 19 Jan (official CD and this download). Maybe they played after midnight hence the confusion over dates? (pure speculation on my part).

Hi there dear Owen!, yes you're right!, indeed Queen play twice at Rock In Rio, on 12th and 19th January 1985. If you watch this event at youtube you'll find two differente versions of Love Of My Life (the one and only cames directly from the 2nd show) and the first one you have different camera angles on a Brazilian TV Report from 1991 when Freddie passed away. The first show is known historically from Freddie forgetting the words to It's A Hard Life (what you hear on the remastered The Works 2001 CD bonus tracks it's a mix of both nights and you can notice this mistake). Yes Sir GH's site clarifies things, it says they played around 2AM hence the confusion about the dates (11th/12th and 18th/19th Jan).

It does repeat some of the potential mis-information about the crowd reaction to Freddie's fake boobs, my understanding was that the british press completely made up the story about poor reaction from the crowd and that there was no actual problem on the night. It then goes on to dispute the information it has just given, signs of an edit I think. I suspect this many years later we will never know the full truth.

Indeed Owen, there could be some fabrication there. The press really had it out for Queen after they played in South Africa a few months prior.

There are supposedly reputable sources that claim Bruce Dickinson saw Freddie in tears back stage and that he had to dodge things being thrown at him from the audience, but there is nothing of the latter on the video. The boob gag just went on as usual, and the audience was very appreciative of the band revealing the Brazilian flag at the end of the show.

So, armed with physical evidence and historical perspective - I'm calling porkies. Time to edit the website entry.
