I wonder why it has had so many remixes, and even here and there I listen it on the radio. I guess it just has been a semi hit track, althought the orginal song is less enjoyable than the variety of remixes there are out there.
I give Freddie a thumb up for trying some reggae in 1985.

I guess it became a hit because of his death...simple as that. While the alternate mixes may have helped to lift the song into the 90s.

The same reason Brian's 1992 tour was a success and TMLWKY became a huge hit - because Freddie was dead and everything connected to Queen sold lots and lots.

It was successful because of freddie's death, and is a Fun dance tune. It also had a real fun video. Both the original and the hit version were good IMO.

I must say I like the No More Brothers Remix much better than the original version.

You should check out the original US extended mix, it is excellent.

Another "thumbs up" for the original extended mix. I didn't like the 3 "post mortem" remixes much. The original is good fun - and so is the video.

The original and its contemporary remixes never really got me. IMHO, the "No More Brothers Remix" did a lot for the music.
Cheers,

Living On My Own has been successful because there is no one else at home to annoy me. Oh, you meant the song?
