Thanks to the wonderful audience recording that was shared on here, we know have the audience recording of Bohemian Rhapsody 11/24/81. After all, it looks like there was a little autotune work done for the official Rock Montreal release as the audience recording matches the verses on the We Will Rock You release. Also, the rock section is confirmed to have vocal overdubs from Freddie as neither We Will Rock You or Rock Montreal's vocal tracks match up with how he sings it on the audience recording.

But the phrasing is different on Rock Montreal.

Greg: But these verses on the audience recording are identical to those on WWRY, proving that they in fact did use auto tune to fix up his voice. The phrasing is actually the same on this, WWRY and RM, the only thing different is RM has some notes corrected which actually make it sound way better. It's really hard to hit notes perfectly on key.

Autotune has a fake "robo" effect on vocals. I hear nothing to suggest that.
I'm betting my live savings that the "away" in the first verse was either overdubbed, or patched in from the second night. The way he begins and ends that word is different from Montreal, to the audience source/WWRY version.
I can prove that by slowing each version down, fixing the pitch on the WWRY version, then uploading it on Queenzone.

Greg: Yeah that'd be great if you could do that. We should get this solved.

if you only apply auto-tune on the bad notes. this robot effect will not be noticable. Besides, this effect will only be prominent if the autotunes is overdriven.. thats when it starts to sound like Cher.

Well, either way, there's no autotune on that note.

I thought after the gig, they take the masters back to the studio and rerecord the parts they want. All live stuff have overdubs and retouching. Thats just what happens.

Yes but that extra work done to his voice was not present on WWRY. I'm guessing for RM, since it was released a couple years ago and we know have the technology, it was just simply corrected with autotune. And Greg, he's right. You can do it so it doesn't have a robotic effect. That line is obviously autotuned.

It's not autotuned. Yes, I'm aware that you can autotune without that "robotic" effect. But, I don't hear "minor" use on that line.

Greg: It has to be autotune or something similar. What else could it be. Trust me, I have autotune and that's exactly what it does. I've experienced with it myself and you could easily change one wrong note you sing and make it sound right without giving it any robotic or artificial sound.

Yes, but my ears can detect "minor" use of Autotune. I don't hear it at all.

OK, I just played the two files (WWRY with the note corrected, and Montreal's version). They don't match. They are sung very similar, but the phrasing is slightly different. It's a overdub or patchwork.
