Overdubs/Vocal Work Confirmed On BoRhap from Rock Montreal

OK, so here's the part that's under debate: This is the "away" part played on We Will Rock You (which matches the audience recording), then Rock Montreal (it's a very quick loop). Freddie was around half a semitone flat on the WWRY version, so I correct the pitch (which explains why the instruments sound different between the loops).

As you can hear, they sound almost identical: BUT there are two key differences, on the Rock Montreal version, there is much more vibrato on the word. Also, if you pay attention to the release and fade on the word, there is a very slight sustain on the release on the Montreal release. On the WWRY version, there is a very slight amount of more vocal fade. This proves that one, no AUTOTUNE was used on that word (you can't tune up phrasing), and that the minor work done here, was some kind of edit (probably some microscopic patchwork).

I beg to differ!
Even when you apply auto-tune on a couple of words it is noticable. Eventhough you won't get the 'Believe' effect it is still noticable by a trained ear. As a voice will sing natural intervals, and not the tempered scale a piano (and therefor also an autotune) will use.

An autotuned vocal will fix the notes to the piano tempered scales.

If you want to hear autotune, listen to McCartney's Good Evening New York. It makes me so angry!

Greg: To me they sound identical. But if what you said is right and that contains patch work, then explain what they did for the "live had just begun" and "now I've gone and thrown it all" lines. On WWRY he sings the exact same phrasing and timbre on the RM release but the WWRY has him singing a few flat notes there.

They do sound very, very similar. I would've missed those differences, if I didn't slow down the audio.

As for those other lines, I'll take a look at those.

"Autotune has a fake "robo" effect on vocals"

Only if you intend it to, which for some unfathomable reason, a lot of people do!?

A lot of people use Autotune, cause they CAN'T SING!

Now that's bullshit. Autotune doesn't turn a bad singer into a good singer. It isn't magic, it can only improve a singer a little bit beyond what he can do.

It's true though:

If you can't stay on pitch while singing, and you need a device to "help" you, then you can't really sing.

After comparing the lines in question on Bohemian Rhapsody. I have come to the conclusion that there are two forms of edits: Patchwork, and pitch correction (without autotune). On some lines, it's the exact same phrasing (with different pitches). My conclusion is that the pitch was brought up via Pro-tools (you can alter minor errors without affecting the actual sound), and patchwork (from either the second night, or overdubs from the original 1981 sessions)!

Oh of course it's true, after all, you said it, and you're mister Know-It-All™ and there's nobody who can come close to the state of perfectness you've manifested yourself in. Forgive us simple mortals for not keeping up with your massive brain.

AutoTune can be used for both pitch correction and for the "Robo" sound effect.  Both are rubbish!

The original "Rock You" VHS was sped up, as a result it sounded a semitone above the original key.

I was hearing the two version comparing them and in the WWRY version Freddie's voice sounds also a bit cleaner and stronger, but maybe it has to do with the audio quality.
And the second part to me sounds completely overdubbed, i mean it sounds recorded in the studio to me.
