very nice!  Noel Fielding does look a lot like Freddie in that picture, it's obviously a fake lol

So what's the results?
The results - good question. The very nature of this test means you have to be honest with yourself.
I can only provide you with accurate and honest information.

I'll let you do the maths, please let me know what you think you have scored out of 14.

No.1 You were unsure but then 'certain' it was genuine!
It is in fact  a Queen fan club christmas message from 1991.

No. 2 You said rushed but real
It is from a letter I got signed personally at the Break Free video shoot in 1984.

No.3 You said fake
This signature is from a Works LP I won that was donated by the fan club for a Queen convention raffle.

No.4 You said fake
This is from a limited edition original print I won at a Queen convention auction.
It was already signed by the artist and I asked Jacky from the fan club if
she could get Roger to sign it for me as it was his idea to get it adapted for NOTW album cover.
After a very long wait of months on end, I finally got it back.

No.5 You said real
A letter signed by Freddie.

No.6 You said looks good but not right
This signature is from the same Works LP that was donated by the fan club for a convention raffle.

No.7 You said fake
It is from the same letter I got signed personally at the Break Free video shoot.

No.8 You said was a duffer
Well it was my first try! I tried to copy a random 'autograph' image from google.
I have no idea if it was a genuine one in the first place.

No.9 You said was genuine
This signature is from the same Works LP that was donated by the fan club for a convention .
raffle.

No.10 You said was fake
It is from the same letter I got signed personally at the Break Free video shoot.

No.11 You said was genuine
I got this personally from John in Hamleys Toy shop in London in 1976.

No.12 You said You'll never, ever convince me that's genuine.  Fake!
It is from the same letter I got signed personally at the Break Free video shoot.

No.13 You said fake
This signature is from the same Works LP that was donated by the fan club for a convention.
raffle.

No.14 You said obvious fake
This was another random 'autograph' image I found when searching Queen autographs in google.

I , of course cannot comment on it's authenticity.

For all I know,  the band may have all signed it for each other!

I simply don't know, and neither do you if you are really honest.

I think the original poster went for an item you told him was fake, if he did I think he's a mug.

Not because you told him it was fake, but because neither of you really know for sure.

At the end of the day, you have to be 100% sure either way, especially if you are influencing somebody elses decision to buy.

Check your score again, and ask yourself  if are you are really  in a position to do that?

Ha! some interesting and mixed results, just as I had anticipated!

But let's get this into perspective - I've never claimed to be an expert and have only offered opinions (where they've been asked for). Where I don't know, I don't offer an opinion.  But I have enjoyed this "test"!

To be fair, I think we should eliminate 3, 4, 6, 9 and 13 as they originated from the fan club offices and weren't obtained in person - we all know what the fan club were guilty of doing for a while (as have all fan clubs).  IMHO, they don't look right.  Of course, I couldn't be certain (neither can you) but I would avoid buying them.

From the others, I got 6 out of 9, so my judgement is not too bad.

I am surprised by the state of the others you got signed "in person".

And, of course, there are obvious fakes - and I will maintain the one's I have said are obvious fakes are just that.

This has been a very interseting topic indeed Kurgan, has been a pleasure talking with you.

And I'm glad we've managed to bury the hatchet in the process.

Reply: Talking of perspective, there are two sides regarding that particular argument.

There are also some legal implications, so I will keep this brief.

It's only fair the accused is given a right to reply, so here is an email statement I received a few years back.

I had permission to post it by the way, and I have my own opinion on the matter but would not force it upon anyone.

Hi Mark!

I can assure you that ALL of your signatures are completely genuine -
including John Deacons! There seems to be a campaign by a certain set of people
right now to discredit myself and the fan club when it comes to autographs, I
have had many fans with perfectly genuine autographs email me after putting
them on Ebay, as they were contacted by these people and told their signatures
were fakes if they were obtained through the FC. it's all complete rubbish, but
it IS beginning to a) make me mad and b) damage my reputation amongst fans and
collectors.

Well, Jacky told me that a signed LP I had was genuine and it turned out not to be!

Also,  an old boss of mine was sent something by the fan club after he had been mugged in the street for his new Queen LPs (he was 13 at the time) and told his story to the QFC.  They sent him a signed "One Vision" poster.  The signatures looked almost exactly like number 14 in your list.  I know that not every signature they did will look the same, but there's also no way they'd change so drastically.

I have no doubt that some of the fan club issues are genuinely signed by Queen.  I also believe that the QFC have signed on behalf of the band - that's not being disrespectful to Jacky, it's what most fan clubs do.

But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

7 fake

8 fake

14 typical
fan club fake from late 80s

By the way, please do not rely on Jacky - that's rediculous, there are a lot of obvious fakes from the Miracle years sent out by Jacky an the fan club... (see ANATO p.e.)
I thought you might be back.

So I faked an autograph of Freddie and John at the Break free video shoot for my own personal collection?

The big difference here is I KNOW it's genuine, where as you know nothing.

Oh I'm sorry for posting my personal opinion here, didn't know this is a forum for cheating and offending each other. You never can say if an autograph is genuine or not especially if you judge only one of four - or do you really believe you can say if a Brian's signature from the last years is genuine or not? Can be faked very easily. Hot space is obviously fake - Magic cover is genuine in my mind.

Reply: I am talking about No. 7 you listed as fake (twice!) and No.12

if you received it in person than you should know best... still think it looks very untypical and I'd never buy such an ugly  autograph, genuine or not! having seen Roger's and Brian's I'd say genuine, that's the same as Magic cover, Brian's is absolutely perfect, no matter what others say about it, rest could be discussed.

Reply: That's very good then, you don't need to buy it because I am not selling it!

It's made out to me you see?

You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, but honestly it doesn't matter a hoot what you or anybody else thinks is genuine or not as it all guess work!

no 4 is still poor fake... though it's a nice story, go and ask Jacky WHO signed it
