rock on, just thought about ALL his work he dose, and gets next to no credit,

i reacon he should get knighted by the Queen and become Sir Brian May...

he dose SO much for animal rights, who else dedicates all their time to saving lives AND makeing music???

and his work with astronomy,

i know he gets some credit from this, but i reacon he really deserves to be knighted,

he's just amazing and dose so much!

who agrees?

What is "dose"?

I agree it would be nice to see him be knighted..

But only for his contribution to Popular Culture and Music..

Not for his Astronomical work... He did not contribute anything, just studied it.
U could get philosophical about it, saying every thesis is a small contribution..bladibla.. but no.

I love Bri for all he's done, and for being a very gentle thought through person.
So yes, I'd grant him Knighthood.

Thanks for clearing that up Silken :)

lifetimefanofqueen, the correct spelling of these words is doES (not "dose") and reCKon (not "reacon" of which isnt even a word). No doubt some cretin will tell me I am being pedantic again.........

Checked the dictionary ( www.dictionary.com ), and guess what..... "reacon" doEsnt exist.......

Your excuse of "I cant spell" is pretty poor. Especially these days since you can easily check your spelling on most Word type documents that have a spellchecker built into them. Then of course there is the internet with sites such as www.dictionary.com ( I might have mentioned that somewhere before). Lastly, I am only trying to help you improve your spelling, since your school obviously cant bothered to............

Who else dedicates all their time to saving lives? That would include vets, and in the case of us humans - doctors. Just because Brian makes music as well, doesnt entitle him to preferential treatment regarding a knighthood.

And as Dane has already pointed out, he has contributed nothing so far to Astronomy other than study it and co-write one book about it. Professor Brian Cox has probably done more in that field, having written at least two books ( The Wonders Of The Solar System, The Wonders Of The Universe) and two tv series' (The Wonders Of The Solar System and Stargazing Live).

And besides, he already has a CBE for his services to the Music industry

What's wrong with you, kids?

Didn't you notice that Julia (lifetimefanofqueen) spells all the words right?

How much of you QZoners start arguments with people here?

If you don't understand what she says, you're all idiots! Sorry, it's true!

I don't like when people pay attention at every little piece, the same goes for you.

So please stop saying to Julia that her words aren't right! Look at yourself: you have a lot of mistakes in words, don't you?

Stop posting your idiotic sentences about Julia's mistakes, she doesn't have them, if you'll keep posting in that way I'll buy as my home pets!

Firstly I don't give a hoot for New Years Honours lists, but some of the above is unfair.

Brian has done something for astronomy -- he has helped publicise it, at least in the UK. His book sold well and frankly anything that gets people reading science or educational books instead of Twilight books or Jordan biographies is a good thing. It's also unfair to compare him to Brian Cox: how many hit records has Brian Cox written? See, unfair. Brian is a p/t astronomer, Cox does it for a living.

Mind you, I think he is overrated. So he built a guitar out of a fireplace -- so what? So did I. It doesn;t work though: it was a tiled fireplace. Boom boom.
