The I Want To Break Free intro on the RECORD is a Jupiter-8.
The I Want To Break Free intro LIVE is a DX7 with one of the Ram Cartridges on the sound "SynOrchestra"
Yes, its that simple.

The I`m Going Slightly Mad sound is a Korg M1 on the sound "Choir"
And the sound used for Was It All Worth It wasnt the Korg M1, but that was the "Fantasia" preset on the Roland D-50.

Show Must Go On was played on the Korg M1 with the preset "Symphonic"
One Vision was a DX7 with (If my mind serves me correct) Strings 1 from the Factory Bank.

Not at all. The Break Free intro was played on a DX7. And the Slightly Mad sound is the 03:Ooh/Aah sound from the Korg M1. Also, the Symphonic preset is the one they used on Bijou, NOT TSMGO.
The Show Must Go On was played on an M1, but it was the Orchestra1 sound from the "combi" list and it was modified, specially the attack and release of the notes. Some cutoff and resonance algo, specially on the synth saw. I've been trying to recreate that one lately and that got me very very close.

Are you shitting me right now? :')
The intro from I Want To Break Free in the studio was a Jupiter-8
There is NO WAY a DX7 can sound THAT organic/analog.

The intro from lets say Live At Wembley is played on a DX-7. And you can clearly hear the difference, the DX7 sounds rather stathic and cold, were as the Jupiter-8 sounds very organic.

(The sound from WWTLF and IWTBF on Live At Wembley is the same sound btw..)

A Jupiter-8 is an ANALOG synth, and DX7 is a FM (So DIGITAL) synth..

According to this, it was a Kurzweil K250.

Somebody got a sound close to the one in TSMGO? Orchestra1 sounds so dark and simple in comparison, it doesn't seem like the right sound.
Don't forget my collection of demos and outtakes: http://goo.gl/uQARhn PM me if you want any [leaked] multitrack. Ya se ven los tigres en la lluvia.

One vision strings sounds very very synclavier to me. Just explore that direction. You will find em.

The One Vision string intro is very definitely from the Emulator II. For those interested, Rhythmic Robot has a VST that has the absolute exact sound, Should you be able to get your hands on it, the patch is called "EII Marcato Strings". Once you hear it there can be no doubt.

Bumped. What an interesting old topic!
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.
