I remember there was an american band called Stryper in the 80's
They used to claim they were christians and used to hand out bibles during their gigs.

Well so far my search has brought me to an incredible band called Theocracy.
Then some other bands like Narnia.

Not true, Brian said on a couple of occasions he used the word 'god' in the Einsteinian way; the laws of physics. Not in the way of a personal entity.

Didn't Evanescence and Paramore have christian rock backgrounds before making it big?

Listen to Slayer's songs played backwards. You might hear some hidden christian messages...

well my favourite band is king's x. they were known as a christian band for quite a few of their early years. however the band have pointed out numerous times that they are not a christian band, but a band containing a couple of christians[they are a trio], there is a difference. i am a passionate atheist, and there would be no way on earth i would listen to these guys if i thought they were christians.
however in saying that, some songs early in their career[they've been together for around 25yrs i think], do have lyrics that have a religious line or two. their first album 'out of the silent planet' does have 2 songs that are to do with god.
the main singer/bassist dug pinnick was a christian for many years. however, a few years ago he finally 'came out' and finally admitted to himself and those around him that he was in fact gay. the church members who he had known for many, many years, more or less told him he wasn't welcome anymore, and that god hates him, and he would have to change!!! he no longer believes in a god!
king's x have been described by a past producer of theirs as: 'a mix of the beatles, sabbath, hendrix, with a dash of james brown'. they do have beatle-esque harmonies from time to time. they also often use massive power chords as well. one or two of their tunes have quite a funky swagger to them.
i love the band. of course they are past their best these days, but still ok. they were one of the very early bands to use 'dropped d' tuning, apparently. they have heaps of well known musos as fans. every single article on the band usually starts off saying something like:' how is it that this group isn't as massive as u2?' 'why arent they selling loads of records?' 'one of the greatest bands of all-time.' that type of thing. gets mentioned about 99% of the time. people are at a loss as to why this band isn't a household name.
they have some fantastic songs, and many years ago they sounded quite different to anything else that was around at the time. some people tend to think that was part of the problem, record companies not being able to promote them well as they were so hard to pigeon-hole. my theory has always been its mainly because they were usually described as a christian band in articles and reviews all those years ago. its been an albatross around their neck ever since, despite the band members saying they are not. anyway sometimes the most talented artists never get well known. the opposite is true as well, look at madonna.
if you like a more heavy sound with a loud 12-string bass, then i'd suggest the lp 'dogman'. for a real mixture of styles i'd say 'faith, hope, love' is the one. they are my two favourites anyway.
you'd never guess that i'm the president of the official king's x fan club, would you?[i'm not really.]

Just so you know, a moderator isn't someone who goes around editing or deleting posts to fit in with their own limited world view. Having done a little moderating on another forum, I can tell you it takes a fair bit of maturity and restraint.
Amen... :P
Well, being a moderator is being some sort of God though ;-)

Amen to that brother! My 2nd favourite band (after Queen of course). Hugely underrated & deserving of way more mainstream recognition. Check out the first 5 albums for their best stuff (just like Queen). Ty Tabor is one of the best guitar players around & developed his own distinctive sound/tone over the 1st 4 albums. Wiked, wiked, wiked!!!
As far as other christian bands go definitely check out Stryper.
