It seems my original post was removed for some reason, so I'll try again.
The Queen appearance on '45 was filmed at Granada TV Studios in Manchester on December 19th.
It was actually Killer Queen that was performed, not NIH.
The 45 minute show aired on ITV at 1.15pm on Christmas Day 1974 and was billed as ''Christmas Rock With 45''.
Abba also appeared on the same show as their performance was filmed in front of Roger's drum kit and the Vox amps.
I have access to all the episodes of '45 currently in the archives, but sadly the Christmas show is not amongst them.
Hopefully a private recording of the TV broadcast exists somewhere.
I've recently discovered that the show was recorded in my hometown of Stretford, Manchester. The old venue 'Hardrock' was famous in the early 70s for hosting some big name live performances as well as Granada TV Pop shows of the time. The other was 'Lift Off With Aysha' which I attended on one show on a school outing!
It's recently been mentioned on a local nostalgia FB page where i've been making inquiries asking if anyone remembers seeing Queen. No response as yet.
I also used to work with someone who was in a 'one hit wonder' Manchester band in the early 70s who is group B&W photo standing near Queen. He remembers meeting the band which must have been on the 45 show. But alas he is not in good health to try and jog his memory about this.
The episode featuring their support band Hustler (also broadcast in December 1974) remains preserved in the archives, and it is a 100% live performance.
Gosh. I wish I had Sooty's Christmas Party on video!
Killer Queen was mimed or live?
I believe it was quite possibly a live performance.
