The Show Must Go On isn't a ballad, this is sympho/prog-rocker.

WATC, as well as In the Lap of the Gods... Revisited, is a ballad, but they're much more like arena rock. I don't think so bombastic arena rockers would work well on a ballads CD.

pittrek - Good choices, but you seem to be blurring the lines. I spot some stuff that I (and I'm sure quite a few others would do this too) put in the 'symphonic-proggish-power ballad' category, such as Heaven for Everyone, Innuendo and Bo Rhap. And Death on Two Legs as a ballad? With respect, truthfully I think that's hard rock, if not heavy metal, far from a ballad! Same decision, if not with more emphasis on the 'heavy metal' aspect, when it comes to White Man!
I think Bo Rhap and It's A Hard Life get their own category (apart from being ultra-Queen classics until the end of time!!!) as 'rock-opera'. And what's with the HD remix of Teo Torriatte? Granted, I put that song in my ballad list, but why not use the 1976 originial, not the 2011 remix? Surely 'high-def' in musical terms doesn't mean much difference? And with MOTBQ Deep Cuts... is that version some kind of weird standalone edit? Just asking.

It seems for the purposes of this thread a ballad is a slow/love/sentimental song but looking at the definition on wikipedia its just about undefinable and can mean anything so....

nothing to add really...

So with that being the case then my favourite ballad is Fun It.  Which is 3.4833333343 minutes long.
Don't shun it!
