I think we can conclude that bits and pieces (of all the instruments), were used from this version--then the rest was either taken from another show, or overdubbed in the studio.

I'm 100% sure that the line "been with you such a long time" was overdubbed--Freddie never sang the line that strong and clean on this tour--and I can hear the vocal quality change (sounds like a studio voice--not a live voice)!

Yeah, I agree. The "been with you such a long time" line sounds a bit strange, just like it was recorded in the studio.

There are also many strange things on Live Killers. For example, some unknown back vocals on Dreamers Ball.

What I don't get is why Live Killers was literally a cut/paste job?!?! They could've took just ONE concert (and maybe fix some stuff here and there), and release it. Cologne, Frankfurt, Barcelona, or Paris would've been excellent choices!

Maybe they were thinking of releasing a bunch of live concerts and didn't want any tracks to be rehashes, that’s one of the only reasons I can think of.
It's much more mysterious and fun this way.

Hey Bob--not to spam your site, but my friend TSS_Killer, first mentioned some stuff about the Barcelona/live Killers thing awhile back:

===============================

"tsskiller wrote: Freddie has exactly the same intonation on Barcelona's Best Friend."

"Sir GH wrote: Freddie doesn't hit the high A on "LONG time" as cleanly in Barcelona as he does on the live album, but maybe that one note was patched up?  But you're right, the vocal line is otherwise pretty damn close.  Even with the speed corrected, it's hard to tell when the audience recording is in such bad quality."

"tsskiller wrote: The drums and guitar were probably redone in the studio (which wouldn't be surprising)."

"Sir GH wrote: Then it really isn't a live version anymore, is it?  It's always possible that they used the music from one night and the vocals from another."

================================

I personally give TSS credit because he helped opened the door on this (his speculations lead me to analyze the 2/20/1979 version)!

Indeed so Greg. I'm also still waiting for Sir GH to update second Glasgow '79 to revise the Bo Rhap since he does not replicate the studio (in fact, he shortens notes and sings wrong lyrics in the rock section, and Brian plays wrong chords in that section too). So that would mean four people helped you figure out the YMBF Live Killers ;).

Yes but it's still technically the best of all time because his phrasing is great and he hits all the notes except the C5. And i don't know what you're talking about with wrong lyrics. So i think it is still fair to say that he does replicate the studio for the verses but just not for the rock section because he doesn't get the C5.

If you want to add more people to the list, you could add our parents, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be here to help you out.

If the list is getting too crowded feel free to leave me off, i only matched a few clips up.

Seriously, why did they agree on this garbage? Same goes for Rare Live. All wasted time.
