The word 'sex' is maybe in there, but he certainly does not say 'sex show' to my ears. It does sound like 'sex show' to me (at least after hearing the commentary i could hear it lol)... I always wondered about it, because it didn't seem to really make sense in the context of the song, but i don't see why Brian would have just made it up. I mean it would be a bit random to just make up an addition to a song...

If I remember correctly, Brian says "Sex Show" was a Freddie-penned track. We know "Back Chat" was a John song, so forgive me for wondering if we're just assuming it transformed in BC because of the funky similarities and the period they both were written in. Or do we have a definite confirmation on this?
Its ages since i listened to the commentary (or the Montreal dvd) but from what i remember, Brian said that the song was supposed to be called Sex Show, but it didn't in the end. I think he said that they changed it, or that there would have been more had it been called sex show or something.

It sounds pretty much like he sang bad bad sexshow in Montreal to me, as suggested by another poster. Having never bothered with the commentary, I always thought that this line sounded silly, so it makes a bit of sense now. Just wondering where "wooly hat" (another alternate title for Backchat?) came from, then...is that just a made-up-by-a-fan title for the demo that surfaced from the HS sessions, or did it have multiple working titles?

IMHO, Brian is just talking bollocks. We all know we can't trust in his memory. That pre KYA jam is just an early outtake of Back Chat. It's the same melody, for God's sake!! Just listen to the guitar in Montreal and compare it to the vocal line in Back Chat.

I hate to break it to you, but that means he was telling the truth, the thing called "SEX SHOW" WAS worked on in the studio.

Probably yes, it was a working title for Back Chat, not another song. But in any case it was a John's song, not a Freddie's one.
