Made In Heaven new remaster glich? Help please...

Hi

There seems to be a slight error at 34 secs into Let Me Live (on the word 'break' in the first verse).  My copy falters on the kick drum beat, as if something has caused a very small dropout on the CD.

Before I send my disc back to Amazon as a faulty disc needing replacement, would a few of you kind people be good enough to check your discs to ensure that this isn't actually an error in either the remastering or transfer to disc processes?

Hmm! I never noticed it initially until you pointed it out, but there IS a very small glitch there indeed!

Oh dear - people are going to think I've got a thing about bass drums, after I started the 'Jealousy' missing beat fiasco!

 Thanks for the replies; I hope some others can check this out too as we have one vote either way at the moment so it could just be one certain batch affected?? (although my guess it it's all of them, and depending on the hi fi you're listening through you may, or may not, pick the error up straight away). 

If you're in doubt, just check out how the bass drum sounds on the first part of the verse, and then notice it sounds faint/broken when Freddie sings the word 'break' at 34 seconds in (and then it reverts back to normal on the next beat).

I do so long for the day without a QPL release without any mistakes.............

Hopefully it'll be corrected for the Hollywood Records release in a few months.

On a related note (and this does not condone the mastering error), I picked up the new Deluxe Edition of Mike Oldfield's 1978 album "Incantations," which sadly contained a similar glitch. A full percussive beat was absent, which send the meter of the piece off. I believe Universal is correcting the mistake and will allow you to send the glitch disc back for a replacement. In the meantime, I sat down with Audacity and cut the missing beat back in from my older, unremastered CD. So, now I can listen to it and not go nuts when I hear the track miss a beat. And no, you can't hear that that one 1 second is not remastered, nor hear the edit at all.

So, the Queen glitch may not be a QPL error, but a mastering or pressing error. The Oldfield error happened after he handed over the tracks for pressing (Mike does the remixing and remastering and compiling of the DEs himself, because he's a perfectionist in the best sense of the word).

You're right. I hear it as well. A shame really...

i'm finding it very frustrating that GB and GT won't comment on posts (where their input could actually be invaluable if correct)  like this, or the Jealousy bass drum saga, the AKOM artwork question, questions about the availability of Roger's 1992 remix of Wembley etc..etc...etc... but are happy to start threads such as 'where is John Harris' etc..

I also heard it (from a FLAC file :P I didn't buy it).

There's no 'glitch'.
Go listen to the original CD release. It sounds the same to me.

Actually I don't think MIH needs any remastering at all. It was released in 1995 when all new CDs sounded acceptable, and all the remasters of this album just sounds louder, nothing really new. So it ain't big loss for me.

It's definitely there. It's also definitely there on the GH3 remaster. I'll have a listen to the singles collection tonight to see if it's there. 
It's not the kick drum, it's the whole track, and it sounds like a digital mastering artifact to me. However, it's also extremely slight. I've listened to that track a dozen times in the last couple of months and never noticed it. I'm afraid I will notice it every time now :)

We don't actually comment on these issues as this really isn't our field of expertise. The sound and visual of any release is left to the 'real pros' who work in the studios.

Cheers Gary - I can understand that, however if there are questions regarding matters on Queen releases that aren't your area of responsibility, it would be nice to know you independent stance simply as a fan on things like incorrect cover art etc...

Whilst you're here, can I hijack my own thread, to ask two specific questions;

1) Was the version of Jealousy with the kick drum restored supposed to go on the Jazz album remaster as is the case, or was it only supposed to be on the bonus CD but was mixed up by mistake?

2) Roger remixed live at Wembley in 1992 ish, shortly after it's initial album release, and I think Roger's remix only appeared on limited vinyl editions at the time.  Can you tell us: 1) Why it was remixed in the first place? (presumably because the original was not to his/QPL's liking?), and 2) Why this remix has never been used for any of the numerous subsequent reissues of the the Wembley gig when if they were not happy with the first one? 3) If there is a marked difference in the mixes is there a likelihood of Roger's version ever seeing the light of day (maybe as a free web download perhaps?)

Back to my original query, it does seem as though there is a glich on Let Me Live across the board - thanks for the posts people.  Interesting to hear that it may be on earlier masters too (which I hadn't noticed but will recheck), which indicates it isn't a problem caused by Universal.  I will however write to Universal and ask for either a replacement with a corrected version of the track, or my money back for them selling me a faulty product.
