Melanie C and Brian May rocked the West End last night in the award winning musical WWill Rock You for BBC Children in Need Pop Goes the Musical.

Last night one of the most recognised singers in the world, Melanie C took to the stage joining cast members from the award-winning West End musical We Will Rock You to perform a unique curtain call collaboration. Introduced by writer and director of the show, comic genius Ben Elton, the performance was part of BBC Children in Need Pop Goes The Musical, a series of West End performances by pop stars to help raise money for the charity.

Butas a further electrifying surprise for the audience, rock legend and music supervisor of the show Brian May took to the stage to join Melanie C in a fantastic and highly energised rendition of ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are The Champions’.

The audience went wild, taking part in the infamous ‘stamps and claps’ as Melanie C’s impressive vocals were stunningly enhanced by Brian May’s signature show-stopping guitar riffs.

Melanie C said: “I feel incredibly lucky to have been a part of ‘Pop Goes the Musical’ for this year’s BBC Children in Need. I can’t believe I had the chance to perform with the amazing cast of ‘We Will Rock You’. I have always been a massive Queen fan, and to have the opportunity to perform two of the band’s biggest anthems and to be joined on stage by the legendary Brian May is a dream come true! Thank you Pudsey!”

Brian May said: “I always wanted to work with Rocky Spice! And tonight it finally happened. She is such a total pro - a delight to interact with. Thanks Mel C! You rock!!!”

Based on the songs by legendary rock band Queen and named after their hit single of the same name. We Will Rock You is written by British comedian and author Ben Elton in collaboration with Queen member’s Brian May and Roger Taylor.
The story takes place in a tongue-in-cheek dystopian future where originality and individualism are shunned, and a lone
"Dreamer" appears who can fulfill a prophecy that will enable the return of rock 'n roll.

In August 2005, We Will Rock You officially became the longest running musical to play at the Dominion, one of the West End’s biggest theatres. Now in its tenth year, the show recently won the industry acclaimed BBC Radio 2
Olivier Audience Award 2011.

BBC Children in Need POP Goes the Musical 2011 is working with the best of West End Theatre and a star-studded line up. Melanie Jayne Chisholm (born 12 January 1974, Whiston, Lancashire,[1]) is an English singer-songwriter, actress and businesswoman professionally known simply as Melanie C (or Mel C). She is best known as one of the five members of the girl group Spice Girls, in which she was nicknamed "Sporty Spice".  She has 11 tattoos on her body with the last done in 2007 at Hanky Panky's in Amsterdam.

I love the Spice Girls and I love Queen, but I don't see how they'd blend.

I'd perform with her and believe me, it would be the BEST performance of my life ;-)

Brian is a world class musician, and like a lot of musicians you get your inspiration and thrill from working with other musicians and singers especially if there is a mutual respect and love of each others music.
In this case Mel C has stated in the past she has always loved Queen, and so when an opportunity arises for her to appear live on stage with one of her heroes, then she is not going to turn it down. Likewise for Brian, if he felt that working with Mel C wasn't going to work then he wouldn't of spent precious hours of his life doing this charity appearance, and for free too.
Just because a particular artist does not appeal to many on here, whether it be Mel C, Lady Ga Ga or McFly, that doesn't mean he shouldn't work with these people. Just because you don't like the particular genre of music they usually produce or have a hatred for that artist or even that you think they don't deserve to have Brian involved, it is not going to change the fact that it is Brian's choice.
Brian's involvement and love of the female voice goes back to the '80's when he worked with the likes of Minako Hondo, Anita Dobson, Fuzzbox and the many artists he collaborated with on the charity singles. The '90's continued with Judie Tzuke and Jennifer Rush and more recently with Claire Sweeney, Lynn Carey Saylor, Annie Crummer, Diana Ross, Eva Maria, Kerry Ellis, Beyonce, Pink, Britney Spears, Anastacia and Catherine Porter. 
Insulting these people and calling them 'sluts' and the like, is very childish and uncalled for.

Brian can work with whoever he wants, even though many fans, myself included, have no idea why he bothers sometimes.

btw; when did mel c become "one of the most recognised singers in the world" ? is the term "recognised" used in the sense of having a familiar face? or in terms of having so much talent that the she is a giant in the world of singers?

Why should Brian not play with Mel C - he surely had nothing better to do that night and I bet the audience loved it. It's not that he left Freddie, Roger and John waiting on stage in the Wembley Arena!

The rest is only publicity and should not be taken seriously . Very unlikely that Mel C would say: "my management secured me this gig. I hardly remember any Queen tunes but it was a nice opportunity to show my face again because lately my carreer does not really go smoothly" and Brian:  "we wanted Kerry Ellis but she could not make it, so I am glad Mel C  appeared or else it would not have been much of a deal because I play in the Dominion every other week, anyway."
