Spice Girls biggest girl group ever?

Maybe biggest hype in the UK for 2 or 3 years, for the rest of the world they´ve only been a plastic pop chicken band......

Come on guys, it´s always the same for many years now: F....musical, rerererererereleases, some weak guitar work for some of the plastic chicks and no (!!!!) hope for real cool stuff.....

Are you really expecting new music from this old, tired man with his endless self parodies???

Well, I don't know about her being a very good singer. I will say that since it's for charity, it makes it even worse. Since when do charity songs have to be crap? Saying it's for charity is almost an attempt to excuse bad quality music.

I know Brian May has the right to choose who he performs with and what songs he performs but 99% of the time cover versions are complete crap.Im not just talkin queen but any artist. If a band tries to cover a Queen song they make themselves generally look stupid but when Brian May adds himself to the mix it makes it look even worse. He is (or maybe was these days) an extremely talented musician, surely he can hear for himself whats being put out sounds awful.
I dont particularly have a problem with Mel C because its for charity but all the other ones are an insult.
Maybe Mr May n Mr Taylor have a cunning plan tho!!! If they let loads of sub standard singers loose on every Queen song at every oppotunity we will all remember how amazingly great the originals sounded.

One factor that might be worth considering in Brian's decisions is that it seems to be genuinely important to him to be accessible to people.  He's spoken more than once about his experience as a young musician meeting some hero of the time and how meaningful it was to be welcomed by him and treated respectfully.  It's certainly possible that some of his creative choices feel like brief mentor relationships to him in some instances, and that it's partly a desire to not place himself too far above others who have less success or have succeeded in a less 'credible' way.  With Queen's history with critics, it's quite possible he's really tuned in to people who are dismissed for whatever reason.

I think if there was some kind of parallel effort to honour the past and their greatness in general with the same kind of commitment a lot of this stuff would be less offensive and cause less annoyance.  But there really isn't, so...

Somebody should give Brian a copy of "It Might Get Loud". He could have -- and should have -- been in that instead of the Edge, but he's too busy farting about without theatre luvvies and pop non-entities.
