Hello everybody. I have once read Brian saying that every Queen concert was recorded from the soundboard from 1974 onward in mono sound. I can't seem to remember where Brian said that. I have tried searching everywhere. Could any help me out here please? Thank you!

He once did say something like that and it's likely they did record a lot of shows, its easily done. They would have also probably all been stereo.

Do you have the source saying that? I've tried searching for it everywhere with no luck.
"As Brian said, every Queen concert since 1974 was professionaly recorded...."

It is most likely, of course, that they just recorded the soundboard's rough stereo output onto compact cassette for the band members to listen back to afterwards if they felt a performance wasn't quite right. Don't expect many of the recordings to be actual multitracks, although some of them obviously will have been.

In the fourth paragraph.

I appreciate you quoting my website, but even I wish I could remember where I first read that ! It was many years ago. Maybe even ten years. It would be a bit more concrete if we could see the actual clipping/transcript of the interview.
I remember it saying that they used to listen to the recordings in the limo on the way back to the hotel, usually to critique them. Indeed, they're probably stereo recordings, similar to the Sun City recording that leaked out.

It was a bit of a pain to find, I won't through MANY google pages and I had to click on EVERY link to be sure it was what I was looking for.

That's a great quote offering some insight, but it's not the exact one. Brian definitely mentioned a date in the one I heard. I'm quite sure he said 1974.
But there is another nice tidbit. The exact moment of the sombrero picture from the Made In Heaven sleeve can now likely be identified. It was probably during Brian's solo spot on 1981.10.18 in Puebla.

The best guy to ask this question would be Trip Khalaf. I'm guessing he will be behind the board during the Extravaganza concerts next year. Met him couple years ago before the PaulRogers/Queen concert in Buffalo. Very nice guy and approachable even before the show started, I was surprised.

1. Brian has serious memory problems, he said a lot of crap in the last 15 years. I wouldn't take him very literally. 2. Even if it's the true and every show was RECORDED it doesn't mean that these recordings still EXIST.

Exactly. Brian's an extraordinary musician, but his memory's not even 1% as accurate as his guitar playing.
