Brian May's GUEST solo spots. Discussion

Interestingly enough i couldn't find a section devoted solely to this topic. I am aware of some of his guest appearances.

Predictably the Jeffrey Osborne album STAY WITH ME TONIGHT (Stay with Me Tonight & Two Wrongs Don't Make a Right)

personally i think the latter is a more blazing solo, however, the Stay With Me Tonight Solo is far more distinctive in it's typical BM voicing.

a favorite of mine is his solo on Raining In My Heart (buddy holly) performed with Status Quo, the gradual building of the solo, though typical of BM is pretty damned enchanting.

This isn't so much a guest spot, as he wrote and arranged the song ... but ...

What Are We Made Of ... in the 90s with Sissel.  One of the best tracks he's ever done, as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, it's a great track, but we are talking solo wise, i think.

I would have to go for his ripping solo on the sone "New Damage" with Soundgarden. Honorable mentions to his tasty parts in Eddie Howell's Man From Manhatten and his excellent playing on the hard to listen to Anita Dobson album.

I absolutely love Brian's playing on the Billy Squier's song "(Another) 1984"... It's... hmmm... simply awesome!!! :-)

AHHh yeah... i used to have downloads of all those from the old brian may tribute site.

I love that guitar harmony on Blow the House Down... dated song as it is.

New Damage was awesome too.

He also pulled off a really SCATHING solo on a guest spot with Jerry Lee Lewis on the Hammersmith DVD. too bad his cable came off on the most ripping one he'd started.
