I think it was always assumed that John did not take part in the back up vocals for the band. That's what made his background vocals on Bad News version of Bohemian Rhapsody, produced by Brian May, such a great joke.

I was there but didn't record it. He did "Don't Stop Me Now", "Another One Bites the Dust", and "We Will Rock You" to a largely indifferent crowd. He does have a great voice.

What is your favourite Queen video?
The first video, and if you didn't know Queen before seeing it, you certainly knew them after, "Bohemian Rhapsody". My first introduction to Queen, and have been stuck on them for the last 40 years.
