In Queen's case it was The Bay City Rollers LP "Rollin" that kept their album at No2. In BTO 's case it was Mud. Such was the mainstream popularity of hard rock in those days.

A whole period of TOTP was wiped too from March - September 73. A few classic performances were lost there. Slade Sweet Bowie Glitter and others, though they can be found performing hits during this period on footage elsewhere such as on German and Dutch TV

I have the Killer Queen performance from November 21st 1974. Noel Edmunds introduces it and Dave Lee Travis takes over at the end. Quality of recording is near perfect. I have had it for decades, but I thought it was the same performance as seen on the official Queen YouTube channel. I only realised a few days ago that it is a different. performance, it starts the same, with the drum skin, then onto Freddie, but I noticed his hand movements were different. So I digitised my tape, played it side by side with the official versions and realised they are quite different versions and I cannot find my version anywhere on YouTube.

Thanks ScottishTeeVee, would you also happen to have any other Killer Queen or Seven Seas Of Rhye recordings? :)

ScottishTeeVee, the video you are reffering to is from 7th November, and the video you uploaded is from 11th October or 27th October, I'm not sure. They are 2 different versions, very similar though.

Chopin1995.

"Watch my video and the version from the official Queen YouTube channel side by side and watch very close. Look at Freddie's hand 17 seconds in, on my version he slides his right hand up the microphone stand, on the Queen official version, he slides his left hand up the stand. In the first few seconds look at his index finger, in my video it is almost pointing straight up, on the Queen official version its down.I could go on, they are clearly different performances, no doubt recorded back to back."

I already had this discussion with another viewer and the above was my reply to him on YouTube. This was his reply

"Done that. Yes, you are absolutely right. Plus Roger Taylor spins the drum sticks twice on your version at 55 seconds and only once on the other official version. Can only be another performance. Thanks for the reply"

I think there's a thread about these two performances. One was on GH1 VHS and the other was on something else. Maybe the DVD?

There’s two versions of this appearance, this one which was broadcast on TOTP and was later released on the Box of Flicks VHS as a bonus video.

The other edit is only available (in 16:9) on the Greatest Video Hits 1 DVD. :)

[/QUOTE] It's just the same version that has been shown on TOTP re-runs and compilations many times in the past, even quite recently.

Do we know what the performance is pictured on the cover of A message from the Palace? I'm guessing TopPop '74

Yes. Strange the building block background was all blue screen.

I'm pretty sure the building blocks are actually there.
