Rick Santorum is the only Republican candidate since Michelle Bachmann of whom I quite seriously wonder whether or not he is clinically deranged. His views and behaviour (especially the whole media-circus he created when his infant child died) make me seriously doubt his clinical sanity.
As for Newt Gingrich: I am not aware of a single person who has spent an extended period of time working for/with him, who does *not* hate his guts. The man is ethically on par with Richard Nixon.
Ron Paul is living in some kind of 1880s-dream, and is completely devoid of any kind of economic realism. I've heard more reasonable proposals from Occupy-demonstrators, and that's saying something. Moreover, Ron Paul is a racist, as he has abundantly shown in his 'newsletters' of the 1980s and 1990s.
Finally, Mitt Romney. A caricature of the irresponsible banker/investor who brought about the economic crisis. A Republican who inspired Obama's healthcare-program. A member of a, shall we say rather unorthodox religious group (if they're saying Obama is a Muslim and Clinton is an atheist, what would Romney be in their view?), and a slick 'old boy' in Washington politics.
Does anyone *really* want any of these clowns to take Obama's place?

Let see... I guess the choices are:
1. Clueless 2. Moon Colonies & Church Groups 3. The return of Whites-Only drinking fountains & bathrooms 4. Getting a job outside of the U.S.
Hmmm....

I can't believe Santorum won ALL THREE last night.

I can. I never overestimate the ability of the average American to think independently.

@Bob:
That's not something limited to Americans.

Of course. But how many developed nations have an electorate who will happily elect someone who will ensure they cannot get public health care?

I feel for my moderate Republican friends...who are either voting for Obama....or not voting.
Since the clown car has now come down to three riders, they have...
a) someone who does not believe in the 'god' they believe in, and whose father was born in Mexico.
b) a three time gigalo
and
c) their Tea Party favorite (the most anally frothy of all), who does not believe in a woman's right to choose, but whose wife had an abortion.
I remember a dozen years ago that we would discuss the good and bad merits of Elizabeth Dole, McCain, Dumbya, and Gore......and at the time, based on the knowledge of the time.......thought ALL would be good presidents in 2000.
Yes, my friends, ...'conservative' Democrats and 'liberal' Republicans could discuss (and not argue or berate the other) and 'agree to disagree' or actually agree on so many points.
If not, we respected the others' educated opinion, without any name-calling. Actually learned a thing or two along the way.
Now, we have left wing, moderate, independent, slight right........and the somehow louder than all hell, so far to the right wingnuts who make up 20% of the population, but 80% of the noise.
And ruin things like the Susan G. Komen Foundation, amongst other things.
