Everybody deals with things in their own way, I believe he and Freddie had a good relationship, from photos and stories you get a sense that the two of them were close in the early years. I think he took his death pretty hard. He seems to be a very sensitive, like another person said he took his father's death very bad and I believe he couldn't come to terms with Freddie's either. None of the band ever speaks badly of him, I believe they always all had a mutual respect for each other that's what kept them together, they will always be a class act.

In Jim Hutton's book, he said that John withdrew (his friendship), from Freddie during his illness.
I can't remember where I came across it, but I did read that John became depressed after Freddie died, (as did Brian for that matter).
It seems reasonable to conclude that Mr Deacon could have handled Feddie's illness and passing better, but I don't think he meant any malice.
