Heres a better question, what if Queen toured St.Anger?
Then people would be saying, "I guess The Cosmos Rocks wasn't so bad after all."
I was actually playing it again last night. (i'm still in disbelief that it was such a dud)
I've come to the conclusion that
1) TCR was horribly rushed
2) Brian, Rog and Paul had no business PRODUCING the album (some miscues etc...in MY mind i think some of the songs dynamics and tempos could have been adjusted to suit a rhythm well)
3) I still maintain that there was a great spirit towards the project, even if there are ridiculous lyrics like "the mysteries and dragons of time will explode"
without focusing on that, there's a lot of worldly reflection and beautiful thoughts towards the album.
Looking at it that way... the only filler is Voodoo.
4)Brian and Rog held back on most QUEEN-isms and there was no bassist... the mix is just pretty dry and soundboardy.
But yes... St Anger... pretty bad.
The title track of St.Anger was good IMO, the rest is just plain sad, I mean, using a trash can as a snare drum?
Having said, if they toured the Black Album,
1.Enter Sandman
2.You're My Best Friend
3.Whereever I May Roam
4.Love Of My Life
5.C-lebrity
6.Sad But True
7.Battery
8.39
9.Love Of My Life(reprise)
10.Master Of Puppets
11.Keep Passing The Open Windows
12.Nothing Else Matters
13.The Unforgiven
14.Nevermore
15.We Will Rock You
16.Whiplash
17.We Are The Champions
18.Seek And Destroy
19.Funny How Love Is
