I get the distinct impression here that not many people like Brian.

Brian is great, but he's a hypocrite.
In the end, everyone is a hypocrite at one point or another. But, he's famous so he needs to be more careful.

I like him... is as adorable as a badger...
talking seriously, he`s a good guitarrist, a good musician and a good person who has his strange ways to do the things...

I just want Brian to put out more material. 2 or 3 solo albums that barely found their way to the States is not "cranking out" material. good or bad, more personal projects like "Star Fleet" (broken strings and all) would be nice and refreshing, he doesn't have to tour, the fans are happy, the money comes in, Brians name gets out, ... it's a win, win, win situation. ..let's see,20 years, only 3 albums.. no wonder people are angry... ..p.s. I've been a Queen fan since '74 and I'm not going to stop anytime soon.. Rock on Brian AND Roger ...To: John Please let us hear from you soon.

This site has really become a place for people to whine while hiding anonymously behind their keyboards. I'm pretty sure some of you ejaculating your usual goo on here will be in the front rows of Knebworth. You're the hypocrites!

bit of a sweeping statement there...summing up many people the same way.
so let me put you straight about me personally (the only peron anyone should speak for)
i will NOT be at Knebworth or anywhere else they tour. i grew up with Queen from 1974 - ok? - i was lucky enough to see queen live 5 times in their heyday - so perhaps i expect more
and for me - the constant "down with the kids collaborations", the pop-idol shit, the hypocrisy, the unending dumping on the legacy (and my memories) is unforgiveable
i'm not here for the new sh*t - i hate it.
i'm here to exchange info, and chat with people - esp about the old days
i'm here to talk about new music
i'm here because occsionally something good comes to light (tho seldom from QOL)
there is so much that QOL could do that would be good - but they don't just look at what the beatles, pink floyd, led zep, purple, rainbow and even the who have done for their legacies....then compare it to queen
ps - i don't hide behind my keyboard
pps - it's all freddie's fault - he called himself a "musical prostitute" and Brian has taken him literally since he died

I think most of us here love and like the Brian May of Queen. After Mercury's death he became even more lovable because his depression and his struggles proved he was a silent fighter, a damaged hero of the music industry.
These days it is more his consideration about animal rights or the way he reflects on Freddie and the Queen era that makes me feel close to him. Other than that he changed in a way that leaves me feel alienated to a part of his personality and output (music or other).
But i will always respect Brian(show must go on)May.

The way I see it, there are two different Brians. The one who died along with Queen in 1991, and the sad, whining elderly rocker who is cashing in shamelessly any way he can, yet sees no irony whatsoever in bitching and moaning about people who are cashing in in exactly the same way.

Oh, and let me add that Brian and Queen represents a part of our childhood/teenage years and the formation of our sensibilities (music or other).
Its the same with Freddie. But Mercury being frozen in time makes him safe about our emotions to him and what he represents. He, in no way, can violate our trust and our past.
May on the other hand is a living individual who has to go on with life.
He is not a statue of ideals or a wallpaper of memories and emotions.
Queen are, not Brian. But Brian is part of Queen.
So i guess its a bit complicated.

I like Brian. I dislike many of his decisions etc. recently, but I still like him.

At the Basle gig in 2005 as Brian got up at the end of his acoustic set someone in the crowd shouted:
'You're the best thing of our lives Brian!'
Let's think of him that way.

There is something about preserving/enhancing the legacy that Brian just doesn't get when you put him alongside Waters/Gilmour, Page/Plant and Townsend (amongst others). Sure you want to be current and relevant to here and now, but i think its wrong to neglect what put you there in the first place.

I think you summed up the mentality of a lot of online Queen fans. They live in the past.

Brian is my favorite Queen member, and one of my favorite Guitarists! So I definitely do like him, I just am extremely opposed to Lady Gaga and Adam Lambert having anything to do with Queen, so both him and Roger annoy me when they make those types of decisions.

wow what hostility about Brian..I too have been a fan since their beginnings in the 70's..I still am a HUGE fan of Queen and Bri..I've been fortunate enough to have met him and we email often..to me his is the best guitarist I've ever heard..his songwriting is always top notch, his vocals always grab me..his most recent arrangement for the San Remo Festival sent chills up and down my spine and moved me to tears..I've read the books he wrote..I've been to 2 presentations of AVLF and thoroughly enjoyed the presentations he & Elena gave..I remember a month or so ago there were a few nights in a row that were significant astronomic event..I went outside to see it and was amazed by what I saw on that very clear night..I emailed him and he immediately replied to me..I consider Bri to be a renaissance man..he's so very kind, genuine & humble..I believe he and Roger put much thought into the Queen legacy and do what they think best to expose Queen's music to a new generation of fans..I enjoy Bri's collaborations with others as it allows him another outlet for his musical talents..his passion for the safekeeping of animals has helped shine a spotlight on the barbaric attempts of some who in their shortsighted mindset think the only answer is to slaughter them..he brought the science to the forefront of this issue and minds are changing..to me it's about humanity and Bri has had an impact in that arena..Bri's been trashed in the British media for some of his work in animal rights..he was trashed in the media as part of Queen..he's an individual same as you and me..I support my friends always whether I agree with them or not because they're my friends & I'm very loyal to them as they are to me..go walk a mile in Bri's shoes and see how it really is..
