Coldplay have sold over 55 million records worldwide.
Although, there is supposedly no such thing... This is a stupid question.

musically, they're very good although CM has a vocal that's very difficult to like
that aside, i love the song "Fix You"...the gradual build up, the stunning but simple lyrics and the memories i personally attach to it[/QUOTE]
The multitrack of Fix You is out there somewhere. Really beautiful just vocal and organ.

They can do some really catchy stuff, like U2's "One", but there's not much musical depth there and so it's all a bit pedestrian and mundane. Check out how musically out of his depth The Edge was on It Might get Loud.

+1. Of all the middle-generation guitarists they could've invited...

Meh. They're all right.

'Politik' and 'Violet Hill' are great songs.
However, Coldplay suffers from being too predictable and producing songs that have that same U2 sound.

I do like them. Not really a fan, but I think they make fine music to suit certain people. At times I feel like listening them if I'm in the right mood.
