What is going to be released this year for sure?

Rhys Thomas' Freddie documentary is the only confirmed one for this year. Hammersmith 75 is officially confirmed for release but not specifically this year.

Roger has stated for the last couple of years that he'd be releasing either a new album or a retrospective 'best of' but that hasn't seen the light of day as yet despite Roger's claims.

Brian has stated his belief and desire that Budapest will come again in a better, restored format, but nothing yet to say when.

Don't forget that NOTHING was confirmed. Not even the documentary, it was only confirmed that it's going to be shown on TV.

The Budapest humbug seems to me like another cancelled product, which would explain why it's mentioned only on archived pages and not on their current versions.

Hammersmith Odeon was supposed to be released in 2009 if I remember correctly and there are absolutely no official news IF or WHEN it actually WILL be released

To be honest, I think NOTHING will be released from the Queen catalogue (even when the live re-re-releases were originally planned for this year). Simply because Brian and Roger are spending their time with Adam whatshisname.


Also don't forget the band wanted to release the Freddie + MJ collaborations this year, but there is still no official confirmation WHEN/IF this will happen

Everything is still possible. Press releases must be coming out during the next two or three months I think.

The sad thing is that everything also includes nothing happening at all.

Hammersmith 75 was confirmed as a 'forthcoming DVD release' in the press releases for the Queen and AL concerts, so I'm expecting it later this year. As its not that long a concert, it would be nice if there were loads of extras, or even a double disc release with Hanmersmith 79, though I doubt that will happen.

Whilst I don't think it is his own site, the most comprehensive Rhys Thomas states the Freddie thing for 'tv and Blu Ray' in September, and Rhys Thomas himself confirmed on twitter that it is in HD, so the Blu Ray release seems logical.

Sadly to say this, but Hammersmith is unlikely to come out this year.

That is true. We're likely to see Hammersmith in 2013. It was technically announced but it wasn't set for this year.

Sony Digital Cinema Brings Queen to Life with Cinema Screenings Worldwide

Sony Digital Cinema, in association with More2Screen, has been appointed by Eagle Rock Entertainment to distribute the momentous concert movie Hungarian Rhapsody: Queen Live In Budapest ’86 to digital cinemas worldwide from 20th September 2012.

Remastered in high definition and 5.1 surround sound, this special cinema event includes 25 minutes of never-seen-before footage, following the band from just after their legendary performance at Live Aid at Wembley in the United Kingdom, through the year leading up to the concert in Budapest.

This will be Queen gold dust for the millions of fans across the world ; they can dress up, sing along and be part of this celebration of Queen’s enduring global appeal.

On 27th July 1986, Queen performed their largest concert ever staged at the Nepstadium, Budapest, in front of 80,000 ecstatic fans. With three years to go before the fall of the Berlin Wall, and Hungary still in effect ‘behind the Iron Curtain’, the concert was of such significance to the Hungarian authorities that a group of Hungary’s top film cameramen and technicians were brought together to record it.

The resulting concert film features many of Queen’s favourite tracks including Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, I Want To Break Free and We Are The Champions. The concert was part of the hugely successful Magic Tour that, poignantly, was Freddie Mercury’s last with the band.

Fans are in for even more of a treat with the additional, never–before–seen documentary footage of the band after their show–stealing performance at Live Aid in 1985.

Ooh - now that's a bit more like what you call 'proof'. Won't be long til it's on QOL then I'm sure. I'm quite surprised that this has jumped the release queue. Nothing about a Blu ray release, but I'm sure that will come.

Perhaps Hammersmith 75 has been put back to next year to pair it up with a Blu ray of the forthcoming gigs with Lambert?

Note that it's not 3D as some (possibly even Brian) have previously alluded to. I just pray they've corrected the speed of it from the original release.

It sounds like they're going to make an even more jumbled editing (by cutting in an extra 25 minutes of documentary footage), it has a really silly name, and the cinematic release is taking up the space of their September release...

Some people think I'm overly negative, but this press release sounds pretty underwhelming to me.

Well I'm also pretty critical when it comes to Queen releases, but in the case they do it "properly"... yes, it CAN be very interesting, but we should wait till we see the final "product"
