My gender is the least of your frankly stupid assumptions. "part of hundreds of threads where he complains about Paul Rogers" LOL. If I've said anything about Paul Rodgers more than 10 or 15 times since I've been here I'd be surprised. I love and respect Paul Rodgers to death for the most part. He seems a bit dull as a human being, but I'm a huge fan of his music and have never complained about his work in my life that I recall, in the context of Queen or anywhere else. The quote I think was about Brian May maybe? You're a bit of a mess. Wipe the homophobes-behind-every-tree spittle from your chin and stop making an ass out of yourself.

One frequent message of Lambert's image, performances and words is "Gay gay gay! I'm gay! Look at me! I'm gay! Has everybody noticed that I'm really hip and gay? No?  Let me french my guitar player on national prime time TV so it's clear.". I deeply appreciate that homophobia is still a scourge on the existence of too many gay human beings and that an artist like Lambert can play a role in incremental cultural change. However as an observer I claim the common privilege of criticism of artists and the arts to note that I think his effectiveness on that message is limited and less than that of other artists who are simply better at communicating it without being so on the nose, self serving and incessant.  Or maybe he just likes doing stuff like that, and that it comes naturally out of performing . Keep digging your idiocy further, GF. You might remember Mick Jagger licking Ron Wood on Saturday Night Live (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BF5cOl9ti_Y)decades before Adam Lambert did such an absolutely UNCONSCIONABLE thing, or Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro sticking fingers up each others' asses on their first two (and awesome!) world tours. Or, you know, Freddie Mercury wearing Glenn Hughes outfits. Or you may not remember these things; that's fine.  The big takeaway, now that we have an actual example of an artist "leveraging" his or her message: GratefulFan will have no homo acts onstage! That shit is just not allowed, motherfucker! This, however, is the kicker:I'm years of life experience and personal enlightenment past needing to conspicuously and self consciously fly my freak flag in support of gay homies everywhere. Whew. Man, alive. I'm sure that such a fricking relief for you now, such a weight off your shoulders. I'm sure you were such a supporter of "gay homies" before, and now you're just reaping the benefits.I'll end with a random quote from GratefulFan, part of hundreds of threads where he complains about Paul Rogers -- At some point I think you do have to start adjusting your filter for people who seem to be perpetually mad at everything and everyone that doesn't conform to whatever it is they think others ought to think/do/be. Like it or not, that does indicate a tendency to raging ego at least sometimes, or perhaps more accurately egocentrism. Yep. He might want to follow his own advice.
Just wanted to freeze this lameness for all time, or at least until tomorrow, in case I decide to comment further.

I'm torn here. Daniel Nester is far from an idiot. Gratefulfan is Canadian and supremely intelligent (redundant for sure), and one of the few souls here who can craft a position in an argument so how does one pick sides?

I don't care how great Brian May and Roger still sound at this point. They look desperate and old, It's not about grey hair, it's more about their attitude...Look at Rush, A new heavy album and playing as tight as ever... if one of their members died I doudt they go in the Rush + lambert route...Only Queen the idiots do that...I watched this show for the second time, and my opinion is the same...Lambert could sing and has great range, but his voice doesn't fit Queen's music, and he sounds embarrassing at times with his soul singing crap....Like the above poster said, no one singer can cover all the styles freddie could sing..songs like Sheer heart attack, stoned Cold Crazy, then sing Love Of My life, Ect...that's a rare talent Mercury had.. The other thing that's starting to irk me is Brian's voice...I think I had enough of his winey version of Love Of My Life, The first time I heard him sing it, honoring Freddie was touching, but now he sounds dreadful and winey....Roger still sounds good, but even in his prime he was hit or miss for me as a songwriter/singer. But for some reason he's aged as a singer better than Brian.

Stoned Cold Crazy lol..

Anyway, those weren't very good examples of his vocal diversity, he never sang particularly 'roughly' on the heavy songs in the early-mid 70s. Stone Cold Crazy, sure it's sung fastly, but he's not exactly sounding like a metal singer there. It's not like he adopts a completely different tone of voice which you couldn't distinguish from other performances like LOML.

Brian's voice is starting to fail him, yes, but it's still nice that he tries. I'd much rather him interjecting with a couple of songs than not, even if his voice does end up sounding like a strained piece of crap. I'd much rather listen to Brian in bad shape than Adam Lambert altogether.

You've made a lot of assumptions on this thread, mostly wrong ones.
If I were GF I wouldn't reply to any more of your nonsense. She already has you in her back pocket. However, you've made such an ass of yourself and you keep digging the hole you've made for yourself, so I wouldn't blame her in the slightest if she tore you another one.

Well I am looking forward to see them 3 times next week in London !!

No matter what anyone's opinion is , I am still going for BM and RT. I am very lucky to see QUEEN live on stage in 2012! For a long time , shortly after FM passed away, nobody could expect them to go on stage as Queen anymore !!

Well this is what's left of the greatest band in the world !
Enjoy it !! SO long you can :

Remember 1986 - 1992 (tribute 1 show only)
1992 -2001 (amsterdam 1 show only (and a bod one too!)
2001 - 2005 1 world tour spanning over 2 years
2006 - 2008 1 world tour
2008 - 2012 5 shows ??
2013 - ???? (if we get the opportinuty again !)

How many times you think you will have the chance to see Queen in the near future ?

Enjoy while you can !!

So, is anyone watching (or following in some form) the Moscow show later tonight? Sitting here writing what songs they do as they do them and being excited together (even if what we're excited over is a steaming turd of a show) is a lot better than arguing..

Grateful, I like the no-response response.  I guess you'll have to enforce a No Outward Homo-Acting Message-Leveraging Onstage Policy yourself? Maybe they have special glasses for that? There are some Queen videos you might want to expunge from your collection, if you actually own them.  Or you could just watch Little River Band concerts for the rest of your life.  Either way, all the best.

Holly, you just don't make any sense. I could use school-taunts or whatever, but I'm fine listening to yours.  I've heard worse.  I've resigned myself long ago to what this site has about, which has been overrun by dull and boring people like you. You'll be hitting 3400 posts soon. Congratulations. Such a milestone.

I am going to see the concert tonight :) I saw a lot of the great city of Moscow in the last days (my first ever visit) but of course the incentive to come here was the concert. I watched Kiev with my host Alex Smirnov on the web and we renamed the band Queen + TSP (that screeching person). My friends from Argentina who are here and who already were in Kiev are annoyed about the screaming AL fans who do not play by the rules queuing for front row :-)

I think we have a good time watching Brian and Roger tonight. We must go to a state of denial when AL comes on stage but perhaps he is so much better when you are actually watching the concert. I also think Rufus does a great job as well as Brian who is so well rehearsed and I simply loved the white haired couple doing Magic and DOOL, a very emotional moment. Where have all these years gone? How weird to bring Freddie on the screen - he is forever young and does not fit to the old guys :-)
I do not want any google ads here.

YourV, I am jealous. I think it's a strange thing Queen+ has done with warm-up shows in huge places, as in the Ukraine, but the Moscow show will be better. I think they'll tinker with the set list for maybe 1-2 songs. And I think Adam Lambert will be better.

For the record, I thought Adam and the band as a whole were so-so, and the set list not nearly as different as it should have been. "Killer Queen" should have been in there somewhere, and as much as I am a fan of "Dragon Attack," I have no idea what that's there instead of, say, "Play the Game."

The outside world seems to think of the first show as a "triumph":

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/idol-worship/adam-lambert-queen-ukraine-kiev-concert-344384

Here's an excerpt, so I guess y'all can barnacle your snark onto it:

Confident and assuredly in control, Lambert led the crowd through an exhilarating version of the group’s “Fat Bottomed Girls," sharing an undeniable chemistry with May and leading the raucous Kiev crowd through a majestic two-hour extravaganza that included an action packed set list of Queen hits and deep cuts.

Lambert hit his stride early in the show, trading vocals with Taylor on “Under Pressure.” He then effortlessly segued from big rock anthems such as “I Want It All” to poignant renderings of introspectively aching pieces, such as his soaring interpretation of “Who Wants to Live Forever?” Lambert’s voice and impassioned delivery brought just the right tone of longing and introspection to the lyrics, and his connection to the song and his audience grew even stronger with each verse.
