Ok, thanks! I love this concert btw.
I like the way it was filmed too, lots of close-ups, filmed at the front of the stage, you feel part of the audience watching this video. We have never seen or heard anything 'official' from this concert, is it?

Yeah, I really love the video from this show very well shot in my humble opinion with great energy in the performance, shame the only available sources seem to be vcd sourced. There is a better version out there somewhere, that's for sure. Still looking for it though, no leads.

if anyone checks the online catalogue of the venezuelan national library (took 5 mins) , you will find that they have the 1 hour TV special on video for local loan. So I can easily imagine the source for both of the concert and the tv special is the national library.
I did not found the concert itself, so it is even likely that some people asked for a new transfer to be made from the libraries umatic master tapes (not necessarily the actual TV master tapes of course), because the initial transfer as we all know is a crappy conversion in term of colours. So some local contacts should be able to check if the conversion is ready and a vhs / dvd is available for rent. Talking about venezuela, I guess for 50 USD they even sell the master tapes... :-> anyone planning a tourist trip there? :>

The DVD I shared here some time ago was VHS sourced

My apologies I forgot all about your share. I should also have said betamax rather than vcd in my comment above. Do you know if the VHS supplied to you was a transfer from the known betamax source? From what I have been led to believe the poor quality is the result of a not so perfect transfer from betamax to vhs.

I'm dying to see a decent copy of this show!!!! :)

The master tape is U-matic > tv broadcast(Betamax) > VHS > digitalized (DVD5)

It looks to me that the VHS was filmed from a TV-screen, that's perhaps why the colors are so dark and the sound looks like it's coming from a telephone.

Yeah, it's about time they release this concert. Hope they also have multi-track audio tapes: so they can put the audience noise higher in the mix. But that is unlikely I think.

i dont the know the lineage but this is cannot be right
At that time in 1981 it must be umatic or some 1" video tape -> unknown final cut for umatic (unless it was cut live which i doubt) -> umatic transfer/betamax transfer for the library as final cut . no tv broadcast there or tv screen recording; the crappy colours are due to some limited colour depth conversion, ie colours reduced to 256 or 64 or similar, 8bit or lower
as for the dark colours, soundcheck is also very dark and its properly converted, probably the camera equipment was not sensitive enough (1981 south america....)
edit: the superior beta sp was not released until 1982. so probably umatic was the original recording format.
edit2: looking at the footage again, it might have been edited live then the video mix was recorded on to umatic or some 1" format and a umatic copy was given to library; just my theory
