Usually the host city drags out a bunch of entertainers among the corny horn blasts and bombast. I'm thinking Queen + AL might do "We Are the Champions" or something.

I think Adam has already stated he WON'T be part of that because:
a) He's not British
b) He has his own solo career and a new album to resume focusing on

Brian has made Lambert a CBE (Commander of the Badger Empire), so he's eligible to have an accent and sing at the Olympics now.

I very hesitantly held the razor over my wrists in 2002 when Will Young sang WATC, with Brian and Roger, at her majesties golden jubilee, but i'm telling you, if Adam Lambert 'stands in for Freddie', on this one,i will figgin top myself.
And dont anybody try to talk me out of it, i'm tellinig you !

I think they said it somewhere, that they will be part of the closing ceremony , but not with AL

Not sure how accurate this will turn out to be. it is the Daily Mail after all, but it does suggest Queen + has a role in the closing ceremony :
Apparently where it says Manics or Liam Gallagher, the manics were asked but had to turn it down due to other commitments. At least that is what Nicky Wire said on the manics twitter page. So there maybe some truth to the list at least.

What's a big shame is that I think Freddie would have loved to be a part of the closing ceremonies for London.
According to that link.. the first act is "Stripping Lollypop Ladies"????
Russel Brand singing "I am the Walrus"???
Wierd if true

Stevie Lange (Vann) has said that the closing ceremony features Queen, the who and George Michael. but whether there's any crossover I don't know :)

Gee, you guys must be half asleep. It was some time ago that Brian said to BBC Radio 6 that 'Queen' would have a role to play in the Olympics, but he would not reveal what it was - other than to state it would NOT involve playing the National Anthem on the guitar again. The short telephone interview can be heard here:
