Nah, I just stopped paying half-attention to Brian when he uses his official site for everything in the world but discussing the music.

Thanks for the link though!

I didn't see it but my wife said they showed some of Bo Rhap, but she was bemused as, in her words, "it had some of Wayne's World in and that's not a British film?". I assuming that they used the US promo video, which is a bit lazy when they could have used the remastered original??

Considering the scope of the whole ceremony, I highly doubt that the decision to use Waynes World in the clip was anything to do with laziness.

More likely it was deliberate, as the ceremony was not only showcasing the UK, but also the influence that British culture has had on the world.

The Queen bit was actually cooler than that.

They projected bits from the video on a "house" that was on the stage while dancers dressed in Freddie's B+W leotards danced around and some of them had giant Freddie heads they were holding up.

Overall I thought the music portion wasn't particularily well-done but it had it's moments.

The whole thing went down-hill when they got some generic rapper up there.

The best part is when they lifted the house up and they had the guy who invented the internet sitting at a desk.

Absolutely, not lazyness it simply a showcase for British music and it's far reaching effect on people around the world, Waynes World was a perfect clip to play. Nothing to do with being a British film or not.

Cheers guys - makes sense when you put into perspective like that, and if it was intentional then that's cool!

Tim Berners-Lee did not invent the Internet! That was invented in the 1970s by a completely different bunch of people. Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web, this is a protocol that sits on top of the Internet. Not the same thing at all.

It also gave the vibe and the q for the trademark headbanging for the stadium to follow. The next clip showed people at home wearing 3d glasses doing the same thing. It sort of enhanced the participation of the viwers.
