amen, Sebastian. That´d be the correct path to follow .... at least from 10 years ago, I´d say.

Vocal: Brian, Roger & Mark Martel
Drums: Rufus + Roger
Guitar: Brian Only
Base: Dream John Deacon (we all want that right?) seriously the QE base player

Keyboard: Mark Martel when needed required--who needs Spike! or The QE dude if one feels an organ is absolutely necessary..

I would want a more organic sound something a little different. A few suprises and exploring back catalog. QE did a nice job with that.

I cant understand George Michael as a suggestion. Granted heis a talented singer and did a good job of Somebody to Love all at the tribute concert but his voice is not suited to Queen rock songs at all.

I disagree with Jamie being needed - whilst I like him, hes a great player and his involvement isn't detrimental, I was really pleasantly surprised at how good Brian was at Hammersmith, managing to put in a lot more subtle licks from the records which he didn't do even on the Paul Rodgers tour. A second guitar definitely wasn't missed.
I'd submit a vote for Marc Martel. Maybe Martel and Soto together?

I seriously cannot think of anyone on the planet who would get me remotely interested in a Queen+ thing. Stevie Wonder?!?
Seriously? Why?

(plus he's probably the one person in the world who's ego's as big as Brian's).
Whoa, what? Do you seriously think that Brian has the biggest ego ever? I don't think so. He didn't start firing band members in his attempt to completely change the direction of the band's music; in fact, he often got outvoted when he tried to change the band's direction (see: Hot Space). Plenty of celebrities have MUCH bigger egos than Brian.

Brian has always supported Hot Space.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

Freddie Nelson.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW7YKHTzfgo&feature=relatedWhile you're there, check out his Queen medley.  Rock chops, great guitar, can sing like a sonofabitch.  Only thing he's lacking is an appearance on a karaoke reality show so he's off Brian and Roger's radar because anyone who gets into Queen has to bring a demographic.  Freddie Nelson can't, but he'd give them credibility in the rock world, something the haven't had for about 20 years.
I just watched his Queen Medley. He does sound very good. He sings those song almost effortlessly. I doubt Brian & Roger would give him a second glance, mush less a first one. It would be going too far outside the box for them.

Agreed. George Michael could never belt out TYMD or FBG.

I think Elton would be a good choice. He can still sing well. He has the range & the chops. Plus, the keyboard/piano situation would be solved.

Will ot happen???

What I'd like to see, knowing very well chances of it actually happening are slim, would be more focus on the music (which is what Brian and Roger are fantastic at) and less on trying to sell large venues or make headlines.
That would mean a different name of course (e.g. Taylor/May/...., or Taylor Mayed, or Meles meles, etc.) as it'd be a NEW band and, for once, NOT living in the past.
I'd love to see them as a three-piece with someone, exploting their own musicianship and bringing nice arrangements without keyboards or a second drummer. Sometimes less is more.
The third member should then, according to this plan, be a bassist, preferably a bassist/singer. No, not Roger Waters as he, genius as he is as a composer and lyricist, is barely a passable bassist and an awful singer (plus he's probably the one person in the world who's ego's as big as Brian's). Not Paul McCartney as he enjoys success with his own band (who are phenomenal, bar Wickens IMO) and he puts on a great show without having to call it Beatles+. The best choice, IMO, would be someone like Chris Squire or, even better (IMO) Roger Glover.
Such a collaboration would hardly attract the uneducated masses and the man in the street, but f*ck it'd be very popular amongst people who appreciate great music, even if they're a huge minority.
That would be interesting indeed, I'd certainly buy a ticket if I had my choice of Bass players it would have been Dee Murray from the old days with Elton, he was just stunning, listen to the double yellow brick road album if you ever want to hear melodic bass... sadly he died of cancer....so maybe Timothy whats his name from the Eagles, I always loved his Bass playing

The only reason people still talk about George Michael's performance was because they were expecting WHAM levels of awful, and what they got was a tasteful rendition of a Queen song. It was the pleasant surprise that left such a good feeling in the collective memory. Measured against some of the other crap at the Tribute, it must've seemed pretty amazing.

To think about it from purely a vocal perspective, Martel's the man for the job. It'll never happen, for a lot of reasons I'm sure we're all grown-up enough to grasp.

as I've said before;

to go out as Queen without Freddie was, perhaps, inevitable. It took them 14 years, but they did it.
and they took the bull by its horn and did without falling in the nostalgia trap. a tour, an album, and another tour. took alot of balls to make that decision, and many people disagreed with it. fair play.

now; every subsequent time they decide to go out as Queen with a different singer, it cheapens the brand "Queen" in a MAJOR way.
Lambert is, basically, Queen's third singer.
I hate the idea of Queen with lambert, and the fact that he came from a reality show which bri and rog so often have publicly slagged off. it is HORRIBLE imo.
having said that, to throw lambert out and bring in a FOURTH singer, would be just as ridiculous.

like it or not, the "Queen" that functions (i.e - bri, rog + whoever), is becoming a washed out entity just like so many once great names have become.
they cling on to the brand, but several original members are gone. not only that, the replacements are gone too

to sum up? either go out as "may & taylor" or don't do it at all.

George Michael.
Great singer and performer, and enough old to fit the band now.
Don't think Bri and Rog would be happy to loose another leadsinger by aids...
