Just Hope it's not going to be great collection of overdubbs
Fortunately or unfortunately, it's going to be...
There are very few overdubs on the Budapest show. Less than I can count on one hand.
That was the original VHS. You never know, Brian might decide that some of his guitar playing isn't up to scratch, or that the piano part from Stockholm sounds better on this song or that...I wouldn't dare call it before the set is out.
I saw it in the theatre, and from memory I can tell you that Brian's guitar was identical to what I remember. I watched that video hundreds of times growing up.

Dear god ... the complete Budapest audio is being released for the first time. Can't we ever be happy here? It's a very fair price for a three disc package.
The only thing I'm unhappy about is the delivery wouldn't fit through my letter box and I can't collect it from the post office as they are shut until Monday. Otherwise I can't wait, like the man said complete Budapest audio.

Anyone knows or think there will be a japanese release with extra bonus stuff on it?

Else hmw.com offer the deluxe packet for £18. Seems to be the best price/deal online.

Does anyone know what's going on with the release date? Loads of stockists have put the date back and Amazon UK is apparently stating a 6-9 week delivery! I've ordered from hmv but they say they the product has not yet been supplied to them which I find odd this close to the release date.

Don't get confused on Amazon - the UK site bizarrely has the US version on import too and this may be the one that takes ages to arrive.

I now have my copy from amazon.co.uk. I'm not sure why a US release would be any different since the packaging rear cover clearly states the Blu Ray is for all zones.

One disappointment is the 5.1 sound is described as "DTS-HD High Resolution Audio 96/24" ie. lossy compressed. Dear god why? The disc is a BD50, I can't believe there isn't space for a DTS-HD Master Audio lossless 5.1 track. Personally I'd rather have lossless 48/24 than lossy 96/24.

The annoying thing is the stereo audio is LPCM 48/24 ie. completely uncompressed, thus wasting space. Lossless compressed stereo audio would have helped if there are space issues. It disappoints me that DVD-Audio and SACD both had lossless compression of stereo tracks but if Blu Ray has it then nothing seems to use it. I assume you can have a DTS-HD Master Audio stereo track?

If the US copy has proper lossless 5.1 audio that would be a reason to get it instead of the UK one.

There is no such thing as a US version afaik, they are releasing one version only like they did for all their releases since the label change.
Please don't touch the LPCM stereo, I'm glad they still add it. I will ALWAYS prefer a properly done stereo mix .

Can't wait till my copy arrives

Why the hell do they go to the effort of remixing the audio, putting it on blu ray, then release it lossy and compressed? Very annoying.

The DTS 5.1 track is lossless.

"Hungarian Rhapsody: Queen Live in Budapest features both a lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround mix and an uncompressed LPCM 2.0 stereo fold down."

5.1 DTS HD @ 96kHz, 24-bit = Happy days, no complaints from me. If you have a decent 5.1 setup use that.
Arse.

The 5.1 could be compressed because there is a lot more bass in the stereo mix.

I bought the Blu ray/cd-set (€ 25,90) and the cd's are now in my car....

You can say what you want about this release (again Magic tour, again the same setlist, we want seventies stuff,...) but:
Budapest 1986 is a FANTASTIC performance!

For me, it is the band as good as they could be in 1986. Freddie's voice is absolutely gorgeous,... We're always talking about FM hittin' high notes but it's the timbre of his voice and many of the lower and very powerful midrange stuff which makes me listen to his vocal abilities in pure admiration:-)

The rest of the band just rocks and they're so solid and create such a huge wall of sound...

Agreed. Definitely one of their best shows.

I can't remember how many times I had to listen to the vocal exchange with the crowd after Tie Your Mother Down. The sheer beauty of his voice/vibrato is unsurpassed.
