I think the mindset behind creating a remix of a song like this should be to breathe new life into it. All Brian's doing is beating the metaphorical dead horse - he's draining the life out of the original song rather than breathing new life into it.

the problem is a little deeper than "breathing new life" into a song or songs...it's really about "breathing new life into brian"**...and sadly there's been precious little of that going on since 1995
