Always thought it'd be a better song with my misheard lyrics
"One foolish world,
So many songs
Senselessly hurled to the never ending cause"
Being how it would contrast song with mere words in a sort of plea to people's tolerance and well being
...anyways... misheard lyrics. .. I think the poster who said his sister thought ALL DEAD ALL DEAD was about a girl named "Odette" takes the cake.
Las Palabras was done with Zucchero as well at the tribute concert right?

GHIII was a bit of patchwork trying to get enough tracks to justify another compilation. LPDA fitted the bill perfectly, having being a hit single and not included on GHII. It was certainly more fitting than the likes of Back Chat, Body Language and Scandal. It could've also (deliberately or not) related to the growing popularity of Queen in Spain, Mexico, South America and the Spanish-speaking American population.
I think Las palabras de amor was more oriented to South America (Argentina mainly because in Brazil they speak Portuguese) than Spain (they said the song was created inspirated in "The Game tour" and they didn`t perfom any gig in spain at these times) or mexico (they haven´t good memories from the mexico tour in 1981)...

You may have a point. LPDA was recorded during the Swiss part of the HS sessions, which took place after they visited Argentina but before they went to Venezuela.

Yep.
The Teo Torriate comment is very valid also.

Las palabras de amor is my 3rd favourite song and Hot space is my second fourite album. I have always thought Save me leading into Las palabras de amor would be ideal. Even in the papers when Zuchero sang it at the freddie tribute one reporter said "zuchero sang his own song" Las palabrad de amor. Wrong!!! I think it was not on greatest hits 2 as gh2 was popular songs not just positions in charts as Who wants to live forever was 24 in uk but a popular song. And inculded on gh2. Scandal and A winters tail are not on gh3 either...A winters tail was a top ten hit in the uk. GH3 is just a marketing CD and the people who put it together should be shot. Living on my own is not the single version either...Also Las palabras de amor was not going to be a single in the Uk, as hot space singles were not popular they did a Top of the pops to promote Las palabras de amor as Body language was not a big success. Calling all girls came out in usa and Las palabras de amor in the uk number 17..

the question of LPDA is not on the GHII is probaly about a music video, the TOTP video was probaly lost on the time, is only note that the GFII the setlist is the same of the GHII, very different of the GH

I think I recall hearing back in the day LPDA was an original Zucchero song and going nuts about it :P
that TV performance I linked before is a great reward to the song lovers after so many years :)

They must have thought it wouldn't work good live.
They wanted to play it at the Leeds show. They tried it during soundcheck and they thought it just didn't work.

Is there a source to confirm this?
I thought Under Pressure, Soul Brother and Cool Cat were the only Hot Space era tracks recorded in 1981..

HS sessions began in June 1981 in Munich (source: Fred's letter to the OIQFC), Exactly what was done there I've no idea.
They then had a break and later reconvened at Mountain Studios, where they did LPDA, POTF and CAG (source: Mack, on Barry Promane's thesis). That's when Bowie visited them and they tracked some ideas for UP and Cool Cat; whether Cool Cat was finished in Switzerland or later on in West Germany I don't know. UP was finished at the Power Station in NYC.
Soul Brother remains a mystery to me - it could've been recorded in West Germany, or in Switzerland, or in America, as I seem to recall Brian saying Freddie specifically wrote it as a B-Side, which may suggest (but not by any means confirm) they might have recorded it in a rush.
After those sessions they went to America, then Venezuela, then America, then Mexico, then America, then Mexico, then America, then Canada, then America, then England, and then West Germany in December for some sessions, which were cut off by Xmas break and then resumed (also in West Germany) in January and finished at the end of March (IIRC). Tracks recorded in those Munich sessions were Life Is Real plus the entire first side of the album.

there are rumors that soul brother was recorded in the "the game" sessions, in 1980

There's a "saviour of the universe" line in Soul Brother -- probably a Flash Gordon reference, so we could at least know the earliest it might've been written if we knew the date Queen started tinkering with the Flash soundtrack.
