Yes that's right and if we include the singles outside the uk. Then it's much more.

I've always been surprised at how few No.1s Queen had in the UK, considering how many hit singles they had overall, and their enormous popularity. I mean, really, BoRhap and Innuendo are their only genuine No.1s. Under Pressure got there obviously, but without Bowie, that may not have happened.
It is surprising, but they were the kings of the top 3..and some of those songs that beat out killer Queen and Radio Ga Ga are forgotten about. Does anyone even remember the song that beat out Killer Queen?....Innuendo is a great song, but it's the biggest hit they did that no one remembers.

I had to look it up. The answer saddened me greatly.
So does anybody have a theory as to why, as Holly says, they went mad for singles in the 80s? Did the industry push them that way? Was it possibly the result of the album/tour cycle getting longer, requiring more single releases to promote the tour?

MTV, music videos, 12-inch singles etc. New marketing opportunites and increased profits.

In New Zealand IWIA peaked at No.3, not sure about AKOM but will check it out when i dig out my copies of the NZ charts.
Ok, so AKOM didn't do well at all in NZ only getting to #23.
I can also confirm that the original GH1 liner notes regarding Crazy Little Thing Called Love are incorrect..........it only made #2 in New Zealand & did not top the charts.
