Just ordering one and wanted to know what any owners thought?

Was considering doing the same. What was the cost, and did you order through the BMG website?

KZ super is fantastic.

I bought it 4/5 years ago (the nr 10!) and I'm very happy with that! :)

Current price is £2,295.00 inc VAT, yep it's the KZ firm that now make the 'official' BM Super supplied by Brain May Guitars (at least that is was I have been led to believe, unless of course they are making them in their own workshops now. It's a limited run of a 100 guitars per year.

The 'Super' was made from the KZ Guitarworks shop by Kazutaka Ijuin. The guitar was very close to the KZ Junior but was cited as having the same neck profile as the original Red Special....but it did have the correct Adeson 'special' pickups. If I recall they were about £2700?
There was a run a few years ago but this was fulfilled and Kaz NO longer has any involvement making any RS guitars for BMG etc...(damn shame as he was a builder with integrity...)
The newer Super is currently being adjusted and there are aims to have one available for this year for music fairs - namely Frankfurt in April?? Price is yet to be finalised (£2995 GBP is current figure and they may come to fruition sometime this year).Full price and spec will be announced and they should be close to the KZ made version. I'm skeptical about them being ready this year....
They will be available from A-Strings (UK) and BMG.

I hope you keep us posted once you get one. I have a Burns copy with great sound, but poorly set up and with little tuning stability. I really wonder if the quality in the Supers justifies their price.

Sorry, slightly off-topic but it's interesting Brian's back-up guitar in the early says was a Gibson Les Paul. Clearly Brian got the sound he needed from a LP but can you get anything like a Les Paul sound from a Red Special clone?

Not really, the output of the BHM's single coils simply can't match a Les Paul. I've heard Brian say that the Red Special was meant to be somewhere inbetween a Stratocaster and a Les Paul, but actually the sounds are much closer to a strat.

That's what I assumed. Can't see how the RS and LP are in any way similar. Maybe Brian just wanted a Clapton/Bluesbreaker vibe.

Why have I had a quote from Barry Moorhouse of £2,295.00 and told they will be here in April?

Barry also told me in Juy 2011 (same day that Pete M brought along the real Old Lady to have a play on) that they would be made in Czechoslovakia and that they would be for sale in the next few months.....It's now 2013 and still no real facts. If you are taking what Barry says as that then great.I hope you get your Super as soon as that. They are, without doubt a fantastic guitar.
I'll wait to be proved wrong.

Ludwigs- Czechoslovakia doesn't exist for the last 20 years...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czechoslovakia
