That's the funniest thing I've seen here for quite a while on QZ. Thanks, GF :)

I havnt got anything dubious to speak of...but once when I was on holiday in Japan I bumped into Jim Hutton...I couldnt believe it...he looked different from some documentaries Id seen from 2000....thinner and older.....he was on a small getaway...we got talking about Japan and the gardens we were in...he said that if it werent for Freddie, then he wouldnt be here now....or even have ever visited Japan....anyway...he gave me some sunglasses and said they belonged to freddie once...as it turns out,its the sunglasses Freddie was wearing the day of the photo shoot for the Made in Heaven album, that turned out to be The Mr. Bad Guy album..I couldnt accept, but he insisted..he was hoping to bump into someone in Japan..he says its a game he plays with himself...go to another country, find a Freddie fan, then give them something special....so they sit now proud by the vinyls I have...x

I love this story and want it to be true. So I've decided it is. :)
It reminds me of travelling internationally a few years ago with a roll of Canadian two dollar coins looking to give them away to strangers if the moment seemed to suit it because I thought the coins were pretty and perhaps meaningful in that context. It was about brief connections and bits of happiness in interactions with strangers and leaving behind a tangible bit of good will. So while toonies are exponentially less cool than something that once belonged to Fred, I definitely get Jim's intent. :)

GF, if you ever intend on touring Europe with a batch of John Deacon signed pictures of BHM & RT to hand out to strangers let me know. This one was really funny.

Thats what Jim said...he does it to make brief connections with people,so they pass on that connection to others and so forth...again something he said he learned from Freddie...connecting people...community...kind of like facebook and the internet...maybe Freddie was ahead of his time...x
