I do like this track but I have to agree with your comments on the backing vocals. It does spoil it a little for me. I guess I respect his choice though.

It's been a long time coming (this track is a least seven years old) so I'm happy to wear my rose tinted lenses.

Roger was always my favourite as far as solo work. I saw him live many times and I would make the effort again if he decides to tour in the future.

Roger and Sarina started dating in 2002, so I'd say a lot of his "love" songs since then were inspired by her.

Also, I believe that sounds like Jeff Beck on guitar.
It's RT and Jason Falloon on guitars on this track.

Anyone notice the 'pleasant and friendly vibe' here over the last few hours - certainly on some posts like this - inspired by Roger's new single and the excitement surrounding Fun on Earth and The Lot?

If that teaches Brian and Roger anything then it's that they should release new stuff if only just to turn this place into a love-in and stop us all fighting for at least a few hours! :-)
LOL - Agreed! Though I had no idea they allowed optimists on here. ;-) Totally kidding.... love it...

I also noticed the striking resemblance to Whiter Shade Of Pale. It's almost as if he took the very best vocal gesture from WSOP and constructed a song from it, and it's brilliant!

It made me so happy I listened to it like 4-5 times without a break, and that is entirely too rare for me lately!. I like the backing vocals a lot too. Someone mentioned having felt the same way with new Queen tunes. I'm right there with ya. Thrilling!

Consider me pleasantly fooled! Thanks, GT.

I'm glad to hear Jason Falloon is still involved...I've always enjoyed his playing. Nothing flashy, but highly competent and pleasant sounding.

Fuck yeah Roger!

I must say I'm thrilled that he's coming out with new stuff, and of this quality. Not that I ever expected poor quality from him, I guess I've just been underwhelmed by Brian and Roger's recent activities as a collective.

EDIT: His voice has really changed so little since the 70's - he might not be able to hit the crazy high notes anymore, but otherwise it sounds so similar, it's really great.

I guess that the track is ok.
It sounds like a mixture of A Whiter Shade Of Pale and Everybody Hurts Sometime.
He uses too many echoes during the song in my opinion though.
Am wondering if there will be any physical singles. Dont think we will get any cd-singles and now that we know that Fun On Earth wont be released on vinyl, I doubt that any singles will be released on (limited) vinyl.

I'd say it hasn't changed since 1966. That version of him singing I Got You at age 16 is such an interesting and revealing listen, as it's the exact same voice that'd sing I'm In Love With My Car and Foreign Sand. Some singers develop later in life, but it was all there when he was just a kid.

My friend is asking who plays the solo? He thinks it is Jeff Beck, which considering he is on a different song on the album seems possible.

Anybody know?

GT has already confirmed It's RT and Jason Falloon on guitars on this track.

Ah thanks. I missed that post, but I specifically want to know who played the solo.

GT, if you know, was it Roger or Jason?.

I´d dare to say that´s Jason, no?

It's clearly not Roger or Jeff Beck, so the money was always on it being Falloon, seeing as Roger has previously confirmed in interviews that he plays on the album.
