This is a Queen fan forum, where each member comes on to discuss said band and anything related. Freedom of speech hasn't been banned on here, methinks. And telling someone - when they're expressing their opinion - to fuck off isn't something that said freedom of speech consists of.

Ive been a huge Queen fan from 1974 till the tragic death of fred., after that i spit on the filosofy that my heroes ...heroes since my teenager years..., do everything and anything possible to make
money..money and more money...not only with the imbecile rerererereleases of almost everything....the far over the top QUEEN +.....concerts,....and even now my old hero Rog will release all of his
dramatically bad solo and Cross stuff. ..for one goal...MORE MONEY..., and beside that....oh my god.....he will also release a new solo project.
Roger Taylor...in my humble opinion one of the best drummers of the world, but to be honest..a terrible singer and songwriter. His best songs written by him were under the Queen banner.
Would i say this way back in 1974, 75...76 ?...Rog a bad songwriter...oh no.....don't touch one of my heroes.......and than there was..Fun in Space...ok, his first compleet solo effort...we had to deal with it.and he is the drummer of the best band in the world......great promotion campaign, great artwork..but the music?...so so...,( !! Frontier....to be honest....nice album, some great tunes...together with the release of our bands new album..a nice couple. !! But after that......my god...if the name Roger taylor was withdrawn from the cd covers, not anyone on this whole planet would pay any attention on all of his solo material...and it's the same with his Cross project....just an ordinairy rock n roll cafe band.. And now Rog and Bri will rework some old tunes with Fred....if it turns out that bad...( forget the sentiments please..) as Made in Heaven......and i'm afraid it will be...listening right now to Rogs latest single.....i'll trow the towel in the ring. .Don't judge me just for my feelings and thoughts and my bad english...if you do ..sodd you!! with regards and greets from Belgium. It's nothing like Justin Beiber. The problem some people seem to have is that life doesn't stand still and everything changes no matter what.
Yes if you wish to you can sit in a cold dark room and pretend nothing has changed, but if you want to live you need to grow, evolve and change to suit the world around you.
When Mr Bad Guy was released, if it had sold in Michael Jackson quantities, which is what CBS had thought it would. The advance for that one record was bigger than EMI had ever paid Queen, do you really think Freddie would have made another Queen album.
BM and RT spent a long time doing very little Queen stuff for years. They abandoned plans to tour in the late 90's because the singer had to many other commitments. Six years later things fell into place with Paul Rodgers, now it's Adam Lambert. They have always stayed clear of replacing Freddie hence the Q+ billing.
As for them being to old and Rock n Roll being a young guys game, that's crap. in the 50's and 60's Rock n Roll was the young guys thing because it was new, as was Jazz in the 20's and 30's. Music like any art form changes and it's usually younger people who bring something new. That doesn't automatically mean that all that's gone before is rubbish, and it doesn't mean that as musicians, or artists, get older they should stop being artists and retire into obscurity.

The problem, to me, is the name. They still can play around the world, and I don't think they need the money...but, not under the name of Queen (remember John Deacon).
They can do a lot of interesting music, but not with that name and that collaborations -it's not only Adam Lambert, is the Fun singer, is FIVE (a fuckin boy band), the girl from the olimpic games (I don't know her name, but for sure, she doesn't have the tallent of the missed Amy Winehouse who changed some things into the sweet soul music with Daptone Records), etc-...
If Brian and Roger would like to play with manufactured artist, well, I respect that, is their decission. The problem is the name, and for me is not valid Queen+...that's a perfect excuse.
The Queen situation was not like The Doors in the 70's (they did two albums after Morrison left this dimension, not masterpiece, but good records ), or AC/DC. Is very different.
The perfect example. Under Pressure needed a remix like Rahmix? No. Is fucking a greatest song. Not everybody does good remixes like Trent Reznor, or sampling vocals on a new song like Fat Boy Slim did with Jim Morrison lines in Sunset (Bird of prey).
I find more interesting Brian playing with Tony Iommy album, or with Tangerine Dream that listening the bizzare flash adaptation to save the budgets. But, if he also like collaborate with manufactured artist without soul, ok, is his solo career. Again, is the name.

Good post Apocalipsis_Darko. Lots of good thoughts here. Once you get past the craziness of "I'm older so I'm a better fan", or "they were awesome with Adam, they should do albums and tours!!!" you have the reality. For a 16 year old, they are Queen. For me at 50+ they can't be. I saw them when they were an awesome band, creative giants and monsters with an enormous sound when playing live. Today it's like watching an old timers sports game. Lots of nice memories, but it can't be what it was. I understand why they are doing it, but I often feel how Brian would feel if Roger wanted to tour and do one offs if Brian couldn't play due to knee issues, and found a younger, "technically better" Brian online like Journey did with their singer. I would bet the farm he'd be fucking pissed beyond belief if Roger called the new guy "brilliant", and able to do things technically that Roger had never seen.
Bottom line for me though is I don't care what they do. I'm not waiting to die because I don't buy into Paul Rodgers or Jesse J or Adam Lambert playing with Queen. Lots of good things in the vault, that interests me and lots of others. Playing songs that are 25 to 35 years old isn't being relevant. What's left of Queen is a really good tribute band. If would not Brian and Roger, Adam Lambert would have stayed mediocre pop singer. He does not have stunning vocal and charisma like Freddie! All that said about him Brian and Roger is just the respect and not enthusiasm for his vocal abilities!
