Today I finally had some time to compare Nordico’s version with mine. And in all fairness I can say that Nordico’s version is far superior to mine.
This also means that all other versions than the original dark green versions are from a different stamper and probably lacquer, what means that the other versions (including mine) are not a ‘second press’ but a far insuperior ‘repress’ instead.
The differences are clearly heard on the softer parts (volume) of the records, on mine version the sound almost drops away, while on Nordico’s version everything is still clearly heard. The fact that the soundsample from Somebody to Love I shared on the other topic sounds better is because of my better equipment and not the vinyl source itself.
So I think it should be better to work on Nordico’s version instead of mine. That said, if Nordico can do a better transfer (lower volume rates and in 24bits/96khz) it will be easy to clean up with descent professional software.
