I know a few people (ordinary people) who sing really well - can hit all the high notes, and the low notes and every note in between. But it would be a joke to compare them with Freddie. Hitting the correct notes does not a legend make! Freddie had that awesome energy, total charisma! When he stepped on the stage, you just HAD to look at him. Everybody and everything else faded in the background. He ruled the stage, and he ruled the audience. He could roar like a lion and the next instance purr like a cat. And he made you love him!
AL? He can hit the right notes, I guess.
OK, I gotta go hear me some Freddie.

Thanks noorie...took the words right out of my mouth. AL doesn't possess what Freddie did...few ever will. Freddie had this sweetness about him and it came across to the audience. He was larger than life and knew he had talent but not obnoxious about it. I think it's why people love him so much. Martel is good but could connect with the audience better. AL is far too full of himself to me.

"Everybody and everything else faded in the background. He ruled the stage, and he ruled the audience. He could roar like a lion and the next instance purr like a cat. And he made you love him! " You couldn't have said it better. That is exactly how we Adam fans feel about Adam. When he first wanted to add dancers to his tour we were upset. We didn't want them to detract from Adam's performance. After the first show we were like, "what dancers?"

But we are in love with Adam. Just like you were in love with Freddie. It is the music and singing but so much more.

And there you have it! Freddie never needed backup dancers or any other gimmicks. HE was the show!
Well, SWLA, let's agree to disagree. At least you are lucky that you have the chance and opportunity to watch AL live. Most of us here never got that chance with Freddie.

there is NEVER going to be any kind of meaningful dialogue on this subject. why?

because Glamberts like those infiltrating this place with no other intention than indoctrinating and forcing their opinions on everyone have proven beyond all doubt two things:

1. they'll manipulate anything to make their "point" - never letting the truth get in the way of their "facts", and
2. they manage provide the evidence to back up the serious fans' claims that polls are worthless.

the question below - in any reasonable environment would have (at best) a three-way split, but more than likely - in the presence of die-hard queen fans - would NOT put AL in the majority....but guess what? - the Glamberts have spoken - and hundreds of times each individual fan by the look of it...and you wonder why your claims about AL's credibility are not taken seriously?

Well I usta like dear young Adam until the umpteenth laud. The question is does he deserve prime royal space on this forum and one molecule of oxygen comparing him to Freddie? In my rumble humble opinion, no.

seriously obnoxious . If they do some US shows, I'll go but I'll pay extra for a ticket not next to you.

Why wouldn't you want to sit next to me? I'm a genuinely nice person! I was simply responding to this post:

Freddie had that awesome energy, total charisma! When he stepped on the stage, you just HAD to look at him. Everybody and everything else faded in the background. He ruled the stage, and he ruled the audience. He could roar like a lion and the next instance purr like a cat. And he made you love him!

Adam fans feel the exact same way about Adam, meaning dancers, etc., fade into the background when he performs. He has great stage presence. Maybe not so much when he performs with Queen, because he lets the band have more of the spotlight being the humble guy that he is. But doing his own music, it's a different story. And unless you've seen him perform live, I don't want to hear any of your asinine comments.

" because he lets the band have more of the spotlight" - Are you serious now? This is the problem with some of his fans. I don't even dislike the guy, you do him NO favors. I'd be willing to bet he'd be horrified and embarrassed by your postings and if you were truly "someone who likes adam" you knock it off and just let him deal with his own battles. You go to a Queen board and say Adam is letting them have the spotlight, you deserve every comment you get, asinine or not. God, his fans can be so dumb. Adam dude, feel sorry for you about that.

One way of avoiding Adam fans is to stay away from threads about Adam. Ha. I guess we as Queen fans (and I like Adam too) should be able to understand the total excitement and enthusiasm that is felt when one admires a musical talent so much. I remember shaking with excitement as I watched Queen during the Live Aid broadcast ... so I think we should just give each other a break on this "fan enthusiasm" stuff - try to get along.

Nice Brian interview! Thanks!

This kind of "discussion" should be wiped from the surface of Queenzone. It brings out the worst to big up either side and/or trash talk the other. In so many ways, it reminds me of when Brian and Roger worked on the Pepsi WWRY with Pink, Beyonce and Britney. The amount of shit that was flung around because of that... Folk saying Beyonce is a shit singer sticks in my mind from that time. As a Queen fan, it's embarrassing to see those kind of reactions. In some ways, it makes me wonder if respect is valued at all around here.

I'm in the thread because I'm interested in going to a show if they decide to do more gigs in the US and wanted to post the newest Brian interview where he talks about that possibility. So I don't have issues with Adam, well not much. I just don't get why his fans think beating people over the head with endless youtubes and fapping are the way to endear new any fans. It's the opposite. I get their excitement, but those types of posts are best for Adam's fanboard as it likely does more harm than good. Did Pink and Beyonce stans come here to defend them? Idgi

Queen has my fan club membership money for the year, I suppose I could just wait on the pre-sale info ;)

"it makes me wonder if respect is valued at all around here"

Bad work should be met with derision, not respect. I don't see why anyone would want any part in a world where respect isn't earned. *shrug*

I'm saying that in reference to the Beyonce/Britney/Pink thing, mind you. Far as Q+AL goes, I still maintain that it's more a case of a stylistic mismatch than a plain old musical catastrophe.

Sorry Zeb, I gotta disagree. "Derision" is a pretty strong reaction to their one-off appearances and/or works. Moreover, it's kinda sad to see that you judge them (Bri/Rog/AL) for such appearances. Of course, other longtime fans have an even harder time accepting such things, it seems. This is why I mentioned the part about respect. It's sorely lacking in a lot of people. Hence all the insults and language that gets thrown around in a thread like this. I don't know any other forum quite like it in that respect.

As for earning respect, Brian and Roger earned my respect a long time ago. They haven't lost it, for me. They're still good people, and they still do good things. After that, it's pure opinion on what is considered good or bad works. I just don't dwell on the lesser things they may do.

As for the Pepsi thing, it was an ad, no big deal. I'll bet hardly anyone in the public even remembers it. Yesterday's chip paper, as I remember someone saying! In other words, people need to mellow and not get so angry at Brian and Roger. Life's too short to be so upset/angry, etc. etc.!
