Roger Taylor has revealed that he and Queen bandmate Brian May are finishing work on duets Michael Jackson recorded with Freddie Mercury.
Both Taylor and May have both decided to work together and finish previously unreleased music recorded by Queen, they’ve also got their hands on some recordings of frontman Freddie Mercury and the king of pop Michael Jackson performing together in the studio.
Speaking to Nicky Horne on the Classic Rock Magazine Show, in an interview which airs from 6pm to 9pm tonight on TeamRock Radio, Taylor claimed that Brian May was more than enthusiastic to work on the forgotten tunes.
“Brian especially has been active working on old tracks. A couple of tracks that Freddie did with Michael Jackson… They’ve been hanging around for years and years and Michael’s estate haven’t really been able to make their mind up about what to do with them. So we suggested we finish them and see.
“They’re pretty good – one of them is great.”
You can check out a clip of the interview below, but you’ll have to tune in tonight to catch it in full. Are you looking forward to some Mercury-Jacko collabs?

I am looking forward to this especially if the release includes 'Victory'. I wonder if these tracks will be included in the much talked of album? Or if the album will contain other tracks? It may not please all the fandom especially the heavy early 70's movement but as we all know Queen are not one trick ponies that seam the same groove like other artists. Queen and their production team produce top quality, coherent music which is appreciated by the wider global audience.

Victory won't be one of the tracks, not enough t work on.Apparently Brian has been working on unreleased Queen stuff for a few years off and on, Roger not so keen, John couldn't care less !

A bit unrelated but a couple of years ago when the QEX was announced, I asked Jacky from the fan club why Roger and Brian didn't just do a tour with the two of them on vocals as that was what the majority of fans and wanted. She replied that Roger was up for it but it was Brian who didn't want to. It seems strange that he virtually disowned Queen years ago, doesnt want to tour yet has allegedly been working for years on these 'unheard' tracks

This fan club statement is very interesting and validates my feeling about Brian May. From his statements about Adam Lambert publically there seems to be quite set in his ways. Roger has created the Queen Extravaganza and discovered a diamond Marc Martel. In the end the guy that generates the most revenue and momentum for the Queen Music Corporation is all that really matters. Roger started QEX as a small touring act to hone their skills and sound building this band the old fashion way, lots of gigs in small places slowly building up a fan following then moving up to larger venues.

Brian has never had confidence in his voice, so doesn't surprise me that he won't share vocals with Roger, I'd much rather see Marc Mattel do some work with them.

Just to make sure I got it correctly, you asked Jacky why Queen don't want to tour with their own tribute band?? I don't see any logic in the second part of your post either. Working on unreleased tracks and touring are two completely different stories.

No, he asked Jacky why Roger and Brian didn't tour as a duo. The question was posed around the time that QEX was first announced, but is not related to it.

^^^^ as Adam said.....
And as for the second part, its all about being part of the band? liken it to being in a relationship. You split up, say that part of your life is over, then occasionally go back for a fumble, which to me is what Brian has done. And before I get slaughtered, that's just my opinion!

I never hear of BM saying much about QEX. He seems to be all about badgers, WWRY, Kerry, and did I say badgers?! Roger is brilliant and seems far more personable, forgiving and loving towards Queen. Even with his own career and recordings he seems to love Queen far more than Brian. As everyone has stated...even John Deacon has more respect for Queen and Freddie.

Queen stuff I like to hear. MJ, not so much - probably the most overrated artist ever.

Keep in mind that Roger and Brian are in their mid 60s and lots more active and productive than most sixta-gerians. Still, they want to keep new (and old!) projects and performances relatively simple.
Regarding the MJJ and FM songs, long awaited for sure, but yet another lawsuit in the MJJ arena. Won't affect Roger's and Brian's efforts, but sends a bit of a chill down my back.
