Ok, here is the sixth chapter in my guide to the song versions of Queen, and this time it's News Of The World. As usual you'll find a comprehensive guide to all song versions on this album, but this time I've also made a few updates.

For the remasters section I've now included the early (pre-1991) CD releases of the album. As well as that I've also listed more Japanese reissues of the remasters. These include the 2005,2007,2008,2011/2 SACD, 2012 and 2013 issues. I've also filled in a few gaps in terms of missing catalogue numbers.

I am currently working on updated all previous chapters with this information, and I will share those next week with the Jazz chapter.

Happy collecting!

Are you sure that punk had been around since the early 70s? Or do you count also the so-called "protopunk" bands?

Also there is a Dutch promo version of We Are The Champions. It looks and sounds VERY similar to the TOTP version, but there is a slightly different guitar bit at the end.

well the New York Dolls first album was 1973 - and they had been around since '71.
Cook and Jones' pre-Pistols band was also formed the same year

I haven't watched Days Of Our Lives in awhile, but isn't there footage of the band recording My Melancholy Blues? I can't recall if the performance is different or not, though.

Get Down Make Love (Trent Reznor) remix is on the b-side of 'SIN' by NIN.

I believe that's a cover of Get Down Make Love, not a remix.

It's from The Great Pretender, but it's just the BBC version.

Thanks a lot, Jam!
BTW, found a mistype in running time of 'It's Late' BBC version.

I see. That's why I asked if these early "protopunk" (I hate that term BTW) bands are counted too.

I'm pretty sure I've heard a Reznor remix with Freddie's vocals, but it could still be remix of their cover

The Nine Inch Nails version of GDML combines both original instrumental and vocal parts and those played and sung then added by Trent Reznor. He himself has called it a remix, but like all things NIN his version of a remix involves mush more than sliding faders up and down. As has been pointed out, it has been readily available in the past and is well know to NIN fans. They have also played it live in the past.
