Snow Releases

Maybe someone understands why all Snow releases are SHIT ??? He makes quality Covers & Menus & the authoring is second to none but why on earth does he use really bad video footage for his dvds ? There is some quality footage out there I.E Paris for 1 !!! Ok its not a full concert but for whats available the QTV version is crisp & clean yet Ive just downloaded his (So called) Widescreen edition & the video footage is atrocious ... Does anyone know why he does this ?

He's a conundrum. Like you say, great covers, menus and authoring but some really poor footage. I actually got a load of his DVDs years ago - at the time (that I knew of, at least) they were the best available. Really loved his Earls Court and Houston DVDs, but now realise that it's all cropped and darkened to cut out the colour flicker. He COULD do a lot better, especially as he sells the stuff.

To Jazz 1979: First of all I guess this Mister Snow does not have access to the master tapes - and has put together the best package he can (out of love) - from the best sources he has available to him. I really can't fault the guy on that.

You could have kept this version till something better came along.
You could have erased it completely without any fuss or bother.
Or you cold search out an even better version yourself (but this may have cost you some time and expense).

There is an old saying that "beggars can't be choosers"; and I find your ungratefulness, cheapness and arrogance are beneath my contempt.

It's not out of 'love'.. He sells bootleg dvds...

Sorry John, but he's selling them - before I knew about downloading here, I BOUGHT several from him, having looked at his menus/artwork and screenshots. But what I got was not great. As I say, still love his EC and Houston efforts, but the rest is cropped and heavily darkened. The biggest blow was that my mate (you know who lol) has just given me a DVD transfer of some of his old VHS tapes from decades ago, and they're in better nick.

John S Stuart ... Im not arrogant, Cheap or Ungreateful whatsoever !!! In fact Im very greatful for this Site & the people who take their time to create wonderful DVDs & kindly share them with the rest of us :-) As for " He doesn't have master tapes " .... Who does ??? Walter I agree with you; and if I bought something substandard I would be first to complain, and if YOU wrote the opening thread I would have written a completely different reply.

But come on - after free downloading; what grounds does has Jazz 1979 to complain?

I won't take anything to do with the argument, but this line made me chuckle a lot :)

I'm of the personal opinion that, having downloaded and checked out a few of his DVD's, Snow does deliberately piss all over the video "mastering" and it's extremely insulting since he sells the DVD's in the first place, never mind the audio alone too sounds often like it was deliberately mucked with, not too asimilarly to how Tarantura deliberately overcompresses their releases.
It's almost as if he's taken the faults typical with official QPL products and exaggerates those type of faults.

Really sad, cos ditto with the above comments the menu and DVD structural authoring work is actually really good for fan made DVD's.

I wish he'd do the DVDs properly. I know a lot of stuff is shared here free, but I really don't mind paying if the content is up to scratch. Sadly, it's not with Snow.

I agree & was seriously contemplating getting his Argentina 30th anniversary set because that does look good but after what Ive seen lately I think Ill pass

Pass on it Neil - I got it: all cropped up, so when they do close-up shots, the guys look like they're missing half a head lol.

Haha thanks for the advice :-) By the way I never meant to cause anyone any offence with this post & also wasn't really complaining about anything it was more of a question based on my views but it seems to have been made into something its not.
