What this guy seems to do is get high quality footage and crop it, filter it, and encode it in a really shitty lossy format which loses even more quality than the filters and cropping already do. Zoomed in lossy footage doesn't look too good.

Thing I love about his DVDs
- the authoring (menus, content ...)
What I hate about his DVDs
- quality (he takes shitty quality videos, "remasters" them after what they look even worse and encodes them with an extremely low bitrate)
- cropping - for some reason he takes 4:3 videos, crops the top and bottom and resizes the middle to 16:9
- selling - the fact he SELLS boots is simply not tollerable

The Chief Mouse guy would be excellent at making DVDs. He did REALLY good on that Japan 1979 video.
