So what i am after is a song that was not wrtten by the great man or with Fred on lead vocals, that would have made a top 20 single.Just a bit of fun now that spring is sprung ! My choice would be Tenemant Funster. So you can have a song sung by Fred but not wrtten by and the other way around ,around.around !

Sail Away Sweet Sister.

Although Spread Your Wings wasn't a top 20 single (in the UK at least) it certainly should have been a massive hit; I simply can't fathom why it wasn't (other than perhaps the influx of punk, but then WATC and WWRY were hits around the same time!)

There are a few songs, that even achieved just that:

Too Much Love Will Kill You (written and sung by Brian) was #5 in the UK and a major hit throughout Europe in 1992.

Who Wants To Live Forever? (written by Brian and performed by Dune) rose to #2 in Germany and has been at least a mediocre hit in 1996.

Both were released after Freddies death though.

If i were to choose an other one from before, i would have a hard time. '39 of the ANATO album or Long Away of the ADATR abum may have been the most obvious choices. May indeed ;)

If it was for Roger, I'm In Love With My Car would clearly be first choice, since it is his signature tune. If there should be a version around, sung by Roger, Sheer Heart Attack from the NOTW album would be an excellent choice too. Officially there is none unfortunately, but that one really would suit Rogers voice.

There are demo versions of Headlong and Ride The Wild Wind from the Innuendo album around, with Brian and Roger singing those songs, but would they also qualify, since both already reached the Top20 somewhere with Freddie singing them?

Now Heaven For Everyone sung by Roger (in 1988) would be a good choice too. It reached UK #2 in 1995 with Freddies vocals, after his death.

I remember it to have hit #29 in Germany, #26 in the Netherlands and #29 in the Europarade charts (not sure about France), but as far as i remember, it didn't chart higher anywhere.

Tenement Funster. I love Rock It (Prime Jive) as well, but the intro was sung by Freddie so I guess it does not count..?

I might overlook any irony, but though this was neither written nor sung by Freddie, that already made it into any Top20, didn't it?

Long Away, although it didn't do too well in the US.

Once you hear Freddie perform or record a vocal, it doesn't leave any room for other mere mortal vocalists to take a song to a higher dimension.
Freddie should have recorded the whole catalouge.

Great example of how we all hear things differently and have varied tastes - She Makes Me is my least favourite Queen song (and I'm including Hot Space!!); just a dirge to me!

Just to get it right, with all that crap called music around nowadays, nearly every Queen song could easily make it into the Top20 somewhere, but back then it was significantly harder. And given, that SSOR marked their breakthru (bad pun i know) in Britain, and KQ did the same internationally, it would be highly doubtful, anything else would hit the Top20 again prior to BoRap. So as much, as i like She Maykes Me or Some May One May, i don't think, they would stand any chance. As would Tenement Funster, even if that's one of my faves too.
