Why do they seat people on the arena ground in a rock concert?
Is this an USA/Canadian thing? In Portugal and i think most of Europe we have standing seats, at least in rock concerts.[/QUOTE]

It most likely is. We DO have some shows from time to time that have no seats in the floor section (we'd refer to that as "General Admission"), but it depends on the show and the artist.

Brian's guitar solo from Vancouver was excellent -- a bit over 12 minutes long and different than the past solos. Here is a nice YT of it. http://youtu.be/daXFhaj8u5s

Here's the first of two video compilations culled from my own A/V recordings, starting with the Calgary show. Edmonton will follow suit probably this weekend or so. Enjoy :)

what are the attendances for north american tour? were any shows sold out? how many people are they playing per night?
I watched as fear took the old men's gaze Hopes of the young in troubled graves I see no day, I heard him say So grey is the face of every mortal

Coulda sworn I saw someone posting Billboard numbers on another forum but whilst unsuccessfully trying to find them, ran across this ticket sales spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArGRM9JiTuXPdHppNjBDR1NxVDBQOFdGc3JNWG1FaXc#gid=0

Don't know how accurate it is -- they have a space for official Billboard stats but it's not filled in yet -- but looks like they're putting a lot of work into it and updating regularly.

It looks like QAL grossed ~$900,000 on the two Vegas concerts alone:

It will be interesting to see the data on the other shows, where the venues are much bigger.  Of course the average prices at the Joint are higher, so there won't be a linear correlation, but there's no doubt this tour is gonna bring in some big bucks.  I wonder what the expenses are for the staging, those 19 trucks, and the traveling as well as local roadies?  No matter how you slice it, I think the primaries are going to come out of this very well.

taptap, are you back from Vegas? Which show did you go to--Saturday or Sunday? Tell us about it!

The revenue from the Las Vegas shows is much higher than the box score indicates. That does not include about 1,000 seats -- many were packaged with hotel rooms or sold with VIP upgrades.

There were 3,100 people there on Saturday, 3,200 on Sunday. Total 6,300 or so.

The shows were amazing!!

Also, the merch sales were really big -- there were no programs left when the Saturday show started and people were buying large numbers of T's. They had about 40 different options.

If SweetCaroline still wants to say she has never done no wrong, here is just a piece of it.
