A word to the newbies visiting here, whether you post or simply lurk:
There are all kinds of different 'fans' here.
1. QAL fans (like Brian May, Roger Taylor and all those folks filling up the arenas for the 2014 Summer Arena Tour).
2. Adam Lambert fans (like Brian May, Roger Taylor and a whole bunch of others whether they could get tickets to the summer tour or not)
3. Queen fans who don't mind Queen collaborations as long as Brian and Roger are involved.
4. Queen fans who really hate any collaboration not including Freddie and John.
5. Non-fans who really can't stand Adam Lambert
There will be serious/non-trolling threads here (usually from people in groups 1-3 above), and then there will be threads insulting Adam and his fans, usually posted by people in groups 4 and 5 above. There will also be trolling posts in the serious discussion threads. It's not really necessary to point out the trolling posts to the whole group - that will be pretty obvious to everyone, trolls and non-trolls alike.
If you feel personally harassed, bullied, or hacked, it would be best to PM a mod directly, as no one on these threads can really do anything where trolls, bullies, and hackers are concerned, except ignore them. The QZ mods are YourValentine and Richard Orchard.
If you want to debate with or just enjoy the trolling shenanigans, go ahead, but conventional wisdom states it's best not to feed the trolls. They'll always be here (and everywhere else online) but to feed or not to feed is Hamlet's eternal dilemma.
If you decide to feed the trolls, you risk getting deleted or IP banned at the QZ mods' discretion. If trolling crosses over to fighting the risk increases (it's not rocket science). So feed the trolls at your own risk.
How to recognize a Troll (they'll follow some version of this pattern):
TROLLING 101
1. Find some fish
These are people who are either naive, inarticulate, overly-emotional (i.e. passionate) about w/e, or some combination of all three.
2. Cast the bait
Throw out speculation as a fact when you know it will annoy or incite your fish and hope they jump on your line.
3. Troll
As soon as your fish are hooked, lead them down multiple unrelated paths. If they're naive or inexperienced enough, they might follow whatever argument trail you use, no matter how far afield it is from the original or how untrue. This can supply hours of fun for the troll, and if they're really good, days, weeks or months until they're called out or exposed or simply lose their prey (see items 4-6 below).
4. When you're called out, deflect
Saying 'come on, you didn't think I was serious did you? Lighten up!' is always a good one. If the fish fall for that, be ready for round 2 of trolling. This is when it gets really fun for the professional troll! The best scenario is when you get to insult forever, and the non-trolling/non-fish population either condone it or actually encourage it, because, hey, it is entertaining to watch the shenanigans and outrage ensue.
5. Follow the fish
Did the Adam fans abandon QOL because it was too unfriendly and head over to QueenZone? Go to QueenZone. If they leave QueenZone, follow them.
6. When the non-fish/non-trolls catch on
This is a tricky one. Because even non-fish/non-trolls can enjoy a good troll, and will often put up with them until either they're tired of the drama, or they become embarrassed by association. In these cases, exit stage left. But don't worry, people have short memories and they like to be entertained. As long as you tailor-fit your troll to the interests of the non-fish/non-troll population, you'll likely be welcomed back. When the fish return, so can you!
Good luck, and may the fish ever rise to your bait!

Not so black and white. Are you trying to be a back seat mod here as well? Not your board, and not your say so who can post where and who they can discuss things with. An AL and a Glambert wannabe spokesperson, that's how you are coming across. Ego much?
I like Queen a heck of a lot, and I like AL's solo music, before you try to put it out there than I'm not a fan of both. I happen to think AL does not have a rock voice.
Still, I and everyone else has the right to post, even though it's getting clearer all the time you want me to keep quiet/or not to post in Q+AL topics...
which I will not.
A word to QZ members. Taptap is very likely to threaten legal action if one does not see things about AL the way she does, or if she simply doesn't like a person. Which is a trolling tactic in itself.
No offense taptap, but after all the vitriolic garbage you and Carol got up to in the past month here, you're frankly not in a legitimate nor moral position to be writing topics like this. Leave that shit up to Barb and Richard.
Also, you haven't been on the Queen fan scene long enough, never mind involved enough, so that's very hypocritical of you to be writing such slanted definitions.

She is a wannabe spokesperson for AL, Glamberts and now QZ. Wants/needs/craves total control.

How original
Ok. Corn-fessin' time. Tiptap, your post looks alot like my last on QOL. This is why I almost, really in effect, did get tossed on my keester over yonder. Turns out you can't be doin' this 'tall. It ain't good as I discovered. Gotta let the mods do it. Y'all AL'ers have had plenty of trollin' in your neck of the woods. Come off yer high horse!!

QZ prides itself on free speech. I've very rarely seen a thread deleted. I've read here through the years before deciding to join again.
I don't know where taptap ever got the idea of posting her own set of rules here, but that's what you get with taptap now more than ever the wannabe spokesperson for AL, Glamberts, and putting this on QZ, and from her of all people?!
Yea, so much for hoping everyone who wanted to could discuss AL, pro, con and in between.

taptap wrote: Your experiences are what they are, but I've had messages from a lot of people who lurk and have seen or heard of the bad treatment glamberts get here. They already know what it's like at QOL, which is why there are only about five regular posters there any more. They'd like to join in, but not under the current conditions. I'm glad that YV has set this out of the way corner for us to talk about the QAL entities. It won't stop the trolls, but it will highlight their activities if they choose to continue them here. Meanwhile the lurkers can watch and wait and decide if they want to join in. Just like you. I have no power here beside that of starting topics, like any member, new or old. Right now we're trying to move the important things from the Serious Topic sub-forum over here, hence my flurry of posts.
And contrary to your assertion that I can't do the things I have, I most certainly can, as they're well within the rules of all members. The rules on this sub-forum are the same as in the rest of the site - no more, no less - as set by Barb and Richard.
And why are you talking like Gomer Pyle? Not that I don't love the old Mayberry episodes. It's funny, but some of the phrases are difficult to parse.
So, you are still keeping track and possibly even trying to get more on your side as usual? Good to know(sarcasm) that hasn't changed for you in the past year!
If what is said about AL on this site bothers you so much, that you have to make and set your own rules...
wow, just wow. Clearly you want everyone to say only good things about AL, you are trying to put up a wall by these so called rules you have made.
It comes across as a wannabe mod, spokesperson for AL, Glamberts, and just selfish with the ego you have going in here. If you have mod status and wanted to place your own rules over everyone, that would be one thing. Sorry to break it to you, but you are not a mod.
Certainly don't want to fight with Glambies. Tiptap, I'm just sayin,' in reading your original post, I now see my mistake with QOL's mod JPL. It's just funny how we see our own mistakes when others make them.
I just visited QOL and overall it is bustling. The organization of the topics are really good with a wide and diverse contributors from different eras. With QZ, topics and posters are also really good (actually terrific), but not as organized, for instance, almost a dozen QZ AL threads now exist, mainly on the serious discussion subforum, and many of them are not serious Queen discussions.
"And why are you talking like Gomer Pyle?" Because for a big chunk of my youth, that's the way I spoke. Hard to get mad and stay mad when folks communicate in long slow drawls.

I know most of the AL threads under the serious topic sub-forum aren't actually serious, but if you look closely most of them were not made by glamberts.
Now I'm all for being a good guest, but I also expect the hosts to be civil as well. Expecting new members to behave like second class citizens, or run the gauntlet of the trolls, is something you may be willing to do, but not me. And since there are no rules requiring that here, I certainly won't.
Perceptions differ but the fact that you find QOL bustling amazes me. It's almost dead, imo, except for the non-Queen related chat-with-friends threads. I read there, but can catch up a whole week's activity in an evening. I think those chat threads are great, but now that there's a new Queen topic on the horizon, I'm really looking forward to those discussions (although not as much, of course, as I am looking forward to the live events).
I know what you mean by accents. When the movie Fargo first came out I was a bit offended by the almost-comic depiction of the Minnesota accents. They had everyone in the movie, from Bloomington (a suburb of Minneapolis) to Fargo (a city in North Dakota, just outside the Minnesota border) talking with the same, thick Iron Range accent like they do in Chisolm. But then I started listening to my friends and co-workers a little closer, and sure enough, almost every native Minnesotan has a bit of that accent, peppered with the ubiquitous phrases like 'yah sure you betcha' and 'uff da!' If you ever hear someone say those two things, you can bet they're from Minnesota - yah sure you betcha :>
